Conclusion: The philosophy <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Virtual Design Studio is to encourage<br />

collaborative practice <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> production <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>novative <strong>design</strong> concepts. In order<br />

to achieve orig<strong>in</strong>ality it is important that participants venture out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

com<strong>for</strong>t zones. The <strong>in</strong>itial group <strong>for</strong>mations should essentially be a chance <strong>for</strong><br />

participants to understand one ano<strong>the</strong>r’s particular philosophies and how <strong>the</strong>y<br />

‘tick’, so to speak. It is human nature to jo<strong>in</strong> with people who are alike but <strong>in</strong> this<br />

case, <strong>the</strong> ‘unknown’ is a key <strong>in</strong>gredient <strong>in</strong> <strong>design</strong>.<br />

Activity: Once you have an idea <strong>of</strong> who you want to work with ei<strong>the</strong>r meet <strong>in</strong><br />

person or discuss <strong>in</strong>itial ideas via Facebook. Make a list <strong>of</strong> places you believe<br />

should be developed and br<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>itial <strong>design</strong> ideas to <strong>studio</strong> on Day 2. Sketch any<br />
