factor <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> utilisation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se <strong>in</strong>itiatives.<br />

The <strong>in</strong>terview also revealed only a m<strong>in</strong>or <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> skill <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>structors utilis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> technology s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>in</strong>dividual membership <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Sharjah. The researcher believes this is expla<strong>in</strong>ed by<br />

<strong>the</strong> lack <strong>of</strong> a shared vision <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> relevance <strong>of</strong> technology with<strong>in</strong> teach<strong>in</strong>g<br />

practice as well as <strong>the</strong> lack <strong>of</strong> clear vision and communication by senior<br />

management.<br />

9.4 Recommendation<br />

The recommendations suggested here are built on <strong>the</strong> f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs and <strong>the</strong><br />

implications associated with <strong>the</strong> ideas previously presented <strong>in</strong> this<br />

chapter namely <strong>the</strong> need <strong>of</strong> full collaboration between students, senior<br />

management, network<strong>in</strong>g facilities and <strong>in</strong>structors. The implications<br />

<strong>in</strong>dicate recommendations made specifically <strong>for</strong> higher education <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

UAE <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> sense <strong>of</strong> it be<strong>in</strong>g culturally dist<strong>in</strong>ctive society. This<br />

<strong>framework</strong>, however, can also be applied to o<strong>the</strong>r educational <strong>in</strong>stitutes<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Middle East and also o<strong>the</strong>r countries <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> West and beyond that<br />

share a common belief <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>tegrat<strong>in</strong>g technology with <strong>design</strong> education.<br />

Based on <strong>the</strong> axes mentioned above <strong>the</strong> researcher <strong>for</strong>mulated a<br />

proposal <strong>for</strong> a VCCS (Virtual Creative and Collaborative Studio) to<br />

address <strong>the</strong> important factors <strong>for</strong> a <strong>virtual</strong> <strong>design</strong> <strong>studio</strong>. Framework will<br />

be explored <strong>in</strong> detail later. The VCCS is a response to <strong>the</strong> research<br />

question result<strong>in</strong>g from <strong>the</strong> researcher‟s <strong>in</strong>vestigations. This <strong>framework</strong><br />

is <strong>in</strong>tended to provide educational <strong>in</strong>stitutes with criteria <strong>for</strong> utilis<strong>in</strong>g<br />

technology <strong>in</strong> <strong>design</strong> education as well as <strong>in</strong>tegration policy <strong>for</strong> smoo<strong>the</strong>r<br />

deployment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se new educational facilities <strong>for</strong> management.<br />
