Figure 7.2 above shows <strong>the</strong> ma<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>mes <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> VDS 3 environment<br />

from <strong>the</strong> ones mentioned <strong>in</strong> Table 7.5. The figure illustrates <strong>the</strong> usage<br />

<strong>of</strong> each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se ma<strong>in</strong> elements promoted <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> VDS 3 environment.<br />

The <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation depicts <strong>the</strong> level <strong>of</strong> utilisation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> VDS elements that<br />

was received by <strong>the</strong> students. The usage was calculated accord<strong>in</strong>g to<br />

<strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> coded references accord<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> data collected dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>the</strong> observation. From above we can conclude that <strong>the</strong> mostly used<br />

features were <strong>the</strong> technological ones represented by <strong>the</strong> technological<br />

tools be<strong>in</strong>g synchronous, asynchronous, <strong>virtual</strong> reality, or any o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

technological tools.<br />

7.4.1 Technology utilisation<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> goal <strong>for</strong> this work was to <strong>in</strong>tegrate new technology <strong>in</strong><br />

architecture <strong>design</strong> education <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> UAE; this section will illustrate <strong>the</strong><br />

students‟ utilisation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> technology that was made available to <strong>the</strong>m <strong>in</strong><br />

this workshop <strong>in</strong> an attempt to analyse <strong>the</strong> important factors to be<br />

considered as far as technology is concerned plus students‟<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mance and how <strong>the</strong>y perceived and used <strong>the</strong> technologies<br />
