6.5 VDS 3<br />

At <strong>the</strong> first stage <strong>of</strong> Phase 3, <strong>the</strong> feedback <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> previous phase was<br />

used to determ<strong>in</strong>e areas <strong>of</strong> improvement <strong>for</strong> VDS 2. Creativity and<br />

collaboration were <strong>the</strong> new dimensions added to <strong>the</strong> VDS 3. Table 6.2<br />

below shows <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> VDS <strong>in</strong> its three phases.<br />

A new learn<strong>in</strong>g skill was <strong>the</strong>n found to be required by <strong>the</strong> society <strong>for</strong><br />

future development. An observational case study <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Porosity Studio<br />

that promotes creativity and collaboration was also conducted to enrich<br />

<strong>the</strong> VDS with new components. An observational case study was<br />

conducted at stage one <strong>of</strong> this phase to identify <strong>the</strong> effectiveness <strong>of</strong><br />

creativity and collaboration <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>design</strong> <strong>studio</strong>. The study also aimed<br />

at determ<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> dimensions <strong>for</strong> creativity and collaboration and<br />

students perception <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir use and areas <strong>of</strong> improvement. The next<br />

section details <strong>the</strong> case study and its f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

6.6 VDS 3 Construction Stage<br />

The f<strong>in</strong>al version <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> VDS was constructed from all <strong>the</strong> above-<br />

mentioned studies and evaluations. The f<strong>in</strong>al VDS consisted <strong>of</strong> four<br />

layers, each represent<strong>in</strong>g an important aspect <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>model</strong>. The next<br />

section will describe <strong>in</strong> detail <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> VDS 3 and <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>ory beh<strong>in</strong>d its <strong>in</strong>frastructure. The <strong>model</strong> was <strong>the</strong>n implemented <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

University <strong>of</strong> Sharjah with its all unique components and a study was
