XIX Sympozjum PTZE, Worliny 2009 The depedance of the increse of the relaxation time contsant of the analysed system on the step of the fulfilment of the vessel or silo, was shown in Fig. 2. As was shown, the relaxation time constant can even about 10 – fold of the constant of the material alone. Since that, the resting time of the material in relaxator, should be chosen very carefuly. XIX Sympozjum PTZE, Worliny 2009 Lagrangean method for solving long line and hyperbolic heat conduction equations Barbara Grochowicz and Witold Kosiński University of Technology, Opole, Poland Polish-Japanese Institue of Information Technology, Warszawa, Poland Kazimierz Wielki University, Bydgoszcz, Poland e-mail: bgrochowicz@wp.pl, wkos@pjwstk.edu.pl Abstract A new method of deriving long line (telegraph) equation is proposed which is based on a variational principle of stationary action. The same method is used in showing that a semi-linear governing equation appearing in the hyperbolic model of heat conduction, proposed by the second author, can be derived as well, as the Euler-Lagrange equation of the variational principle. The main idea is based on the observation, that for dissipative systems the variation of time derivatives of a field is different from the time derivative of the variation of the field. Hence from the same action integral containing a density of a Lagrangean and known for a conservative system, equations of a dissipative system may be obtained by the variational principle, provided a particular form of the non-commutativity of operations: variation and time differentiation, is assumed. Then a new solution method for both equations: long line and hyperbolic heat conduction ones, both written as a telegraph equation, however, with different material coefficients, is proposed and applied. Keywords Telegraph equation, long line equation, hyperbolic heat conduction, Lagrangean density, variational principle, solution method W liniach telekomunikacyjnych i w wysokonapięciowych liniach elektroenergetycznych znacznej dlugości, trzeba uwzględniać falowy charakter zjawisk elektrycznych.
