XIX Sympozjum PTZE, Worliny 2009
paper is the presentation of LSIPMSM braking performance characteristics and the feasibility
of its usage in passive brake systems, based on experimental data.
Experiments were conducted on LSIPMSMs with symmetrical three-phase and two-phase
phase stator windings, and by using with the same rotor. The full paper is going to present an
in-depth analysis of current- and speed-dependant as well as current- and position-dependant
characteristics of the tested LSIPMSMs, thus emphasizing important LSIPMSM braking
performance attributes.
Fig. 2 presents the phase A voltage, current, electrical output power and total electrical output
power variation in dependence of the tested three-phase LSIPMSM braking torque.
Fig. 3 presents the different stopping transients of a large-inertia drive (which was 25-times
larger than the tested LSIPMSM rotor inertia) in dependence of the tested three-phase
