The Alumni Association welcomes<br />
fi ve new members to the Board <strong>of</strong><br />
Gover<strong>no</strong>rs.<br />
John D. Jurcyk, ’84, Fairway, Kan.,<br />
is a shareholder at McAnany, Van<br />
Cleave & Phillips, PA in Roeland<br />
Park, Kan. He represents employers<br />
and their insurance carriers in all<br />
areas <strong>of</strong> workers’ compensation<br />
and general corporate defense.<br />
He defends owner-controlled and<br />
contractor-controlled insurance<br />
plans. Jurcyk was the lead defense<br />
counsel for many contractors,<br />
including the Union Station<br />
re<strong>no</strong>vation, the Kansas City<br />
International Airport re<strong>no</strong>vations,<br />
and the Federal Reserve and Internal<br />
Revenue complex in Kansas City.<br />
Jurcyk was named one <strong>of</strong> the “Best<br />
<strong><strong>Law</strong>yer</strong>s in Kansas City” by Ingram’s<br />
Magazine. His undergraduate<br />
political science degree is from<br />
Creighton <strong>University</strong>.<br />
Tom L<strong>of</strong>tus, ’80, Houston, Texas,<br />
is senior counsel for Chevron U.S.A.<br />
Inc. His practice focuses on oil and<br />
gas transactional, legislative, and<br />
administrative matters. L<strong>of</strong>tus was<br />
previously in-house counsel for Koch<br />
Industries and Co<strong>no</strong>coPhillips, and a<br />
Litigation Partner with Akin, Gump,<br />
Strauss, Hauer & Feld. He graduated<br />
from the U.S. Naval Academy with<br />
a bachelor’s degree, and served as a<br />
fl eet <strong>of</strong>fi cer.<br />
Ward Loyd, ’68, Topeka, serves<br />
as treasurer for the <strong>Washburn</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong> Alumni<br />
Association. Loyd was appointed to<br />
the Kansas Corporation Commission<br />
by Gover<strong>no</strong>r Mark Parkinson in<br />
February 2010. Since 1968, he has<br />
been in general law practice in<br />
Garden City, Kan. Loyd served in the<br />
Kansas House <strong>of</strong> Representatives<br />
from 1999 to 2007. He received<br />
his undergraduate degree from<br />
Southwestern College in Winfi eld,<br />
Kan. He served six years on the<br />
Kansas Supreme Court Client<br />
Protection Fund Commission.<br />
Lynn S. McCreary, ’94, Brookfi eld,<br />
Wis., is senior vice president and<br />
deputy general counsel <strong>of</strong> Fiserv Inc.<br />
Prior to joining Fiserv, McCreary was<br />
a partner at Bryan Cave LLP where<br />
she was managing partner <strong>of</strong> its<br />
San Francisco <strong>of</strong>fi ce after spending<br />
12 years in the fi rm’s Kansas and<br />
Kansas City <strong>of</strong>fi ces. Previously,<br />
McCreary was an associate at the<br />
Topeka fi rm <strong>of</strong> Frieden, Haynes<br />
& Forbes. She attended <strong>Washburn</strong><br />
<strong>Law</strong> after a career as vice president<br />
<strong>of</strong> Metropolitan Life Insurance<br />
Company’s mortgage lending<br />
subsidiary, Metmor Financial.<br />
McCreary was a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Moot Court team and was named to<br />
the Order <strong>of</strong> the Barristers.<br />
Timothy P. O’Sullivan, ’75,<br />
Wichita, Kan., is a partner with<br />
the fi rm <strong>of</strong> Foulston Siefkin LLP<br />
concentrating his practice in estate<br />
planning, elder law, probate and trust<br />
law, and taxation. He has a bachelor’s<br />
degree from St. Louis <strong>University</strong>,<br />
and a master <strong>of</strong> law degree in<br />
taxation from the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
Missouri-Kansas City <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Law</strong>. O’Sullivan is a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />
American, Kansas, and Wichita Bar<br />
associations, the National Academy<br />
<strong>of</strong> Elder <strong>Law</strong> Attorneys, and the<br />
Wichita Estate Planning Council.<br />
Since 1992 he has been an adjunct<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essor in estate planning at<br />
<strong>Washburn</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong>.<br />
