FAMILY LAW QUARTERLY STUDENT EDITORS NAMED FOR 2010-11<br />
Jennifer L. Lemus Carol Longenecker Schmidt Kristin L. Klementowski<br />
Jennifer L. Lemus has been named student editor-inchief<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Family <strong>Law</strong> Quarterly for 2010-11. Student<br />
executive research editors are Carol Longenecker-<br />
Schmidt and Kristin L. Klementowski. All are third-year<br />
law students.<br />
The Family <strong>Law</strong> Quarterly is a scholarly journal published<br />
by the ABA Section <strong>of</strong> Family <strong>Law</strong>. It focuses on<br />
important and emerging family law issues. Under the<br />
guidance <strong>of</strong> Richard S. Righter Distinguished<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Linda Henry Elrod, ’72, the Quarterly has<br />
been edited by <strong>Washburn</strong> <strong>Law</strong> students since 1992.<br />
September 21-23, 2009<br />
Distinguished Practitioner in Residence:<br />
Carlton Stansbury<br />
Carlton Stansbury was the Fall 2009 Distinguished<br />
Practitioner in Residence. While on campus,<br />
Stansbury spoke to the Family <strong>Law</strong> Quarterly editorial<br />
staff on the topic <strong>of</strong> “What <strong><strong>Law</strong>yer</strong>s Need: Importance<br />
<strong>of</strong> Publications,” spoke to the Family <strong>Law</strong> class on<br />
“Effectively Working with Divorce Clients and Opposing<br />
Counsel,” and presented a Lunch & Learn titled, “The<br />
Perils <strong>of</strong> Oral and Written Agreements: Property-Related<br />
Challenges for Non-Married Couples.” Stansbury, a<br />
shareholder in the Milwaukee, Wis., fi rm <strong>of</strong> Burbach &<br />
Stansbury SC, has published and presented on a wide<br />
range <strong>of</strong> family law topics. He has received specialized<br />
training in mediation and collaborative practice, including<br />
collaborative divorce and interdisciplinary practice.<br />
PRACTITIONERS IN RESIDENCE<br />
As student editor-in-chief, Lemus is primarily responsible<br />
for the summer, fall, and spring issues <strong>of</strong> volume 44.<br />
Longenecker Schmidt and Klementowski are responsible<br />
for the winter issue <strong>of</strong> the Quarterly. However, all three<br />
work together to publish the issues.<br />
Students selected receive scholarships each semester they<br />
serve in this role. Senior editors named for 2010-11 are<br />
Ashley R. Holm, Stacey L. Sheon, and Joshua V. Nicolay.<br />

Distinguished Practitioner in Residence:<br />
Frank P. Cervone<br />
Representing Juveniles in the Legal System<br />
Frank P. Cervone was the Spring<br />
2010 Distinguished Practitioner<br />
in Residence. He is executive director<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Support Center for Child<br />
Advocates, a pro bo<strong>no</strong> program that<br />
represents abused and neglected<br />
children in Philadelphia, Penn. In<br />
this capacity, he provides both direct<br />
representation to child clients and a variety <strong>of</strong> systemic<br />
reform, leadership, and community education services.<br />
He served as co-chair <strong>of</strong> the American Bar Association<br />
Section <strong>of</strong> Litigation Task Force on Children (<strong>no</strong>w<br />
Children’s <strong>Law</strong> Committee), and is a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Children’s <strong>Law</strong> Committee Working Group.<br />
