its 120th anniversary. This exhibition was
deliberately chosen to reflect just one aspect

Russian silver, items of applied and decorative
art of superb quality. This exhibition
included a selection of silver objects complemented
by painted portraits of Russian
monarchs and members of the aristocracy
and merchant classes, illustrating the development
of artistic silver in Russia over the
course of three centuries, from the 18th to
the early 20th centuries.
