He turned back to Maggie. “I don’t want you to<br />

overdo it today. If you need to rest or you’ve had<br />

enough altoge<strong>the</strong>r, let me know. None of this foolishpride<br />

crap, okay?”<br />

Her eyes flashed. “I’ve already got a mo<strong>the</strong>r, Dalton.<br />

I don’t need ano<strong>the</strong>r one.”<br />

He raised an eyebrow. “Believe me, <strong>the</strong> last th<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> world I want to be is your mo<strong>the</strong>r.”<br />

could respond, <strong>the</strong> reception area began to fill with<br />
