2 Product Overview
3 Operation
Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit
Note: In this user guide ”MFB” refers to the ”Multi-function Button”. This guide also
occasionally indicates that a button must be short pressed. This means that the
button should be pressed for a very short period of time, every where else the
buttons are to be pressed normally. In this user guide the “DSE Bluetooth Handsfree
Car Kit” is also referred to as “Bluetooth Speakerphone”.
3.1 Charging the Battery
The Bluetooth Speakerphone comes with a rechargeable battery. Prior to using the
speakerphone, it is recommended to charge the battery fully for the first time. Normal
full charge time is approximately 3 hours.
To charge the battery, simply plug the unit into a USB port via the provided mini USB
cable. Included in this kit is also a 12-24V USB cigarette lighter adaptor which can be
used to charge the battery in your vehicle.
The indicator LED will display a steady red light while charging and will automatically
turn OFF once charging is completed.
Note: Charging indication will be delayed for a few minutes if the speakerphone has
not been used for a long time or if the battery is drained.
Note: To prolong durability of battery, it’s recommended to charge the speakerphone
whenever low battery is encountered. When battery becomes low, LED will flash red
every 3 seconds. Under low battery condition, if speakerphone is continuously used,
it will decrease durability of battery as well as standby time and will result in longer
charge time than the normal 3 hours.
3.2 Turning the Speakerphone ON/OFF
Power ON: When the Bluetooth Speakerphone is OFF, press and hold the “MFB”
for 4 seconds until you hear a short beep. The indicator LED will flash blue, and it will then
attempt to connect to the last connected mobile phone.
Power OFF: While the Bluetooth Speakerphone is in standby mode, press and
hold the “MFB” button for 4 seconds until you hear a short beep. The indicator
LED will flash red before the unit powers OFF.
Note: If the Bluetooth Speakerphone is not connected to a phone, the power save
feature will automatically power OFF the speakerphone after 15 minutes of inactivity.
6

3.3 Pairing
Prior to using the speakerphone for the first time, it must first be paired with a
Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone. The steps below describe pairing instructions for a
typical Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone.
1. Place the speakerphone and mobile phone no more than 1 meter apart.
2. Ensure that the speakerphone is powered OFF.
3. Press and hold the “MFB” button for 6 seconds until the indicator LED starts
flashing red and blue alternately, the speakerphone is now in pairing mode.
Note: If pairing is not completed within 2 minutes of initiating the pairing process, the
pairing mode will timeout and the speakerphone will automatically power OFF.
4. Activate the Bluetooth function on your mobile phone and search for
accessible Bluetooth device by referring to your mobile phone user guide for
details.
5. Select “DSE-EA0054” from the list.
6. Enter the pre-programmed security code “5555” and press “OK” to pair the
speakerphone and the phone. Once the pairing process is completed, the
blue and red indicator LED will stop flashing and the speakerphone will go
into standby. This can be confirmed by checking the indicator LED status
which will flash blue every 3 seconds.
Note: Some mobile phones at this stage will prompt you to allow the speakerphone
to automatically make connection with the mobile phone. It is suggested that the
Bluetooth Speakerphone is allowed to automatically connect or else the user will
have to manually connect the Bluetooth Speakerphone every time it is to be used
even though the two devices have already been paired.
7. You should now be able to make and receive calls using your speakerphone.
Note: Please ensure that the phone is always within 10 meters wireless signal radius
of the speakerphone. Moving the phone any further will result in disconnection.
3.4 Using the Speakerphone
Most mobile phones will automatically connect to the Bluetooth Speakerphone once
it is turned ON. If the phone does not automatically connect, manually select the
speakerphone from the paired devices list located under the Bluetooth menu. If the
speakerphone does not appear under the paired devices list then follow the steps in
section 3.3 of this manual to pair the speakerphone with the phone.
mode short press the “MFB” button and say the voice tag after you hear a beep.
Note: Voice dial functionality will vary depending on the mobile phone model. Please
refer to your mobile phone user guide for more details.
until you reach the desired volume level.
Mute/Unmute: During a call, short press the “MUTE” button to mute the
speakerphone. The indicator LED will glow red for as long as the call is muted. To
unmute the call simply short press the “MUTE” button again. The indicator LED
will return to its normal blue flashing.
Switching a call between speakerphone and mobile phone:
o Speakerphone to Mobile Phone: During a call, press both “V+” and “V-”
buttons to transfer the call to your mobile phone.
o Mobile Phone to Speakerphone: Press both “V+” and “V-” buttons to
transfer the call to the speakerphone.
Note: This function is dependent on the mobile phone being used with the
speakerphone and may not work with some phones where this feature is not supported.
Hold the Call: During a call, press the “MFB” button twice to hold the phone call.
Press “MFB” button twice again to resume conversation.
Answering a second call: When receiving a second call, press “MFB” button
twice to hold the first call or short press the “MFB” button once to end the first call
on line and answer the second call.
Rejecting the second call: When receiving a second call, press and hold the
“MFB” button for 2 seconds to reject the second call.
Switching between 2 phone calls: When answering 2 calls on the same line,
press “MFB” button twice to switch between the 2 phone calls. Press “MFB” button
once to end the first (currently selected) call and stay on the second call.
3.5 Using the Multipoint feature
The Multipoint feature allows you to pair up to 2 Bluetooth enabled mobile phones at
any one time.
3.5.1 Activating the Multipoint feature
Enabling Multipoint mode: While the unit is in standby mode, press and hold “V+”
button for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. At this stage the multipoint feature will be
enabled and the speakerphone will automatically try and connect to the last 2 paired
(if any) mobile phones.
Disabling Multipoint mode: While the unit is in standby mode, press and hold “V-”
button for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. The multipoint feature is now disabled
and the speakerphone will now automatically power OFF. Once the speakerphone is
powered back ON, it will only connect to the last connected Bluetooth device.
3.5.2 Multipoint Pairing and operation
Follow the instructions given in section 3.3 of this manual to pair the 2 Bluetooth
enabled mobile phones.
Note: Once the first phone is paired, strictly follow the instructions in section 3.3
again to pair the second phone; including the instruction requiring the Bluetooth
Speakerphone to be powered OFF.
After pairing the second phone press and hold the “V+” button for 3 seconds to
activate the multipoint feature. At this stage the second paired phone will
automatically connect to the speakerphone.
Once both handsets are paired and connected, press the “MFB” button once to
activate the voice dialling feature on the first phone and twice to redial the last dialled
number.
3.6 Reset to factory defaults
While the unit is in standby mode, press and hold the “V+” and “V-” buttons for 10
seconds and the indicator LED will blink purple twice. The unit is now reset to factory
defaults and will automatically go into pairing mode.
Note: After the above reset process, the Bluetooth Speakerphone will need to be
paired with a mobile phone before it can be used again.
