A compendium of coal mining machinery, well
worth careful perusal, is the No. 52 catalogue just
issued by the Ingersoll-Sergeant Drill Co., of New
York. It contains 136 pages filled with information
and illustrations of such an exceptionally
practical nature that it will be found useful for
reference if for nothing else. The various air
compressors, coal cutteis, drills and other mining
equipment and appurtenances manufactured by
the Ingersoll-Sergeant company are described in
detail, and with accompanying instructions and
suggestions which will be appreciated by patrons.
Pneumatic haulage is also treated at considerable
length. The neatness of the typography and the
quality of the illustrations, coupled with the large
amount of succinct information provided on mining
machinery in general, makes the catalogue
particularly attractive. O O O
The Municipal Record is the latest addition to
Pittsburgh journalism. It is a weekly publication
devoted to banking, real estate, building and
municipal affairs. It is issued in tabloid form
and the typography is exceptionally neat. It is
published by the Municipal Record Co., whose
offices are in the House building. The staff is
composed of Paul W. Hyde, editor; Edward Allen,
associate editor, and H. L. Stockbridge. business
manager.
TENNESSEE COAL AND IRON STATEMENT.
The accompanying" statement of earnings from
January 1 to September 30, 1904, has been issued
by the Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Co. The
net earnings during this period amounted to $1,-
191,075. Interest and other charges amounted to
$584,171, leaving a balance of $606,904. Out of
this sum $211,635 was appropriated for improvements
and depreciation and $14,440 went to pay
the dividends on the preferred stock. The remaining
surplus amounted to $380,829. The general
balance sheet of September 30, 1904, is:
