Polypropylene multifilament spinning
technology for mono-coloured carpet yarns
over the years, the name auStrofiL has become a
synonym for top quality polypropylene yarn production
machines. today, SML spinning lines for technical yarns
are well known all over the world for their outstanding
reliability and operational flexibility.
a high number of auStrofiL lines have been delivered,
allowing satisfied SML customers to manufacture top
quality yarns with excellent tenacity. the lines are not
only available for the production of fdY (fully drawn) and
poY (pre-oriented), but also bcf (bulked continuous
filament) yarns. bcf yarns are used mainly in carpets
as pile yarn, upholstery and due to their volume,
occasionally as fillers in ropes and sealings.
bcf yarns produced on SML spinning lines demonstrate
the highest levels of crimp contraction and stability,
and low shrinkage. a wide titer range can be produced
without changing any of the components of the patented
texturising unit. Moreover, the ingenious design of the
crimper means that steel lamellas are avoided, while
outstanding levels of cooling efficiency after texturising
result in high bulk and uniform yarn properties.
a standard auStrofiL bcf line consists of four
winders each for two threads. Modular design allows
customers to commence production with two winders
and then subsequently enlarge the line for increased
output. Simple operation and handling from floor level
is possible and a low overall height facilitates installation
in production halls with low ceiling heights. in addition,
short melt distribution ensures quick colour changes
and far less waste as compared to other spinning lines.
the spinning line is designed with an electrically heated
spinning beam and the drawing and texturising unit
stretches the yarn at a standard ratio for bcf of around
1:2.5. texturising occurs at speeds of up to 3,000 m/
min, the yarns being opened in the crimper unit and
then compressed by hot pressurised air into a plug
with a rectangular profile. this plug is subsequently
wound around the cooling drum in multiple turns,
drawn off, intermingled and winded up.
SML is the leading supplier of turnkey, multifilament
extrusion lines, which prior to shipment are subjected
to rigorous, in-house testing under production conditions.
