JDOffice 1.2 JDOffice Directory Structure By default, C:\GreenStar\JDOffice will be the location of the JDOffice installation. Within the GreenStar folder, there will be four default folders: • data: contains all of the data unloaded into JDOffice; a user can back up this data folder • export: contains all the files which the user exports from JDOffice • install: contains copies of the files which were needed for installation • lib: contains files needed for JDOffice settings Note: Depending on what you do, (imports/exports, etc.) you may have additional folders within the basic directory structure. 24
Learning the Basics of Windows 25 Getting Started This section will teach you how to take full advantage of Microsoft Windows easy-to-use graphical interface. The Mouse The mouse pointer changes shapes depending on whether you are clicking in text, or pointing to an object. When you click in text, the pointer transforms into an I-beam. When you point to an object such as a menu or toolbar, the pointer becomes a left-pointing arrow. Point: Position the mouse pointer (without using the mouse button) until the top of the pointer rests on the item you want to point to on the screen. Drag: Move the mouse while holding down the left mouse button. Click: Position the pointer over an object and then press and release the left mouse button without moving the mouse. Right Click: Press then immediately release the right mouse button without moving the mouse. Double-Click: Press then immediately release the left mouse button twice without moving the mouse. The rate of clicking can be slowed down or sped up. If you find that nothing happens when you double-click, you may need to slow down the rate at which Windows will recognize it. Consult your Windows Help for instructions on changing mouse characteristics. Menu Bar Windows-based programs use pull-down menus to organize and provide easy access to commands. Each menu category is listed below the title of the application in the menu bar. There are also sub-menus within some menus; these are indicated by a right-pointing arrow. Sub-menu options can also be displayed on the screen by clicking the right mouse button. This manual will display menu commands as a series. For example, Tools>Farm>Field Information describes choosing the Field Information sub-menu in the Farm sub-menu on the Tools menu. Any commands that cannot be executed at that point in the program will be shown on the menu in gray (this is referred to as “grayed-out”).
