The Polygon tool is used to draw an irregular-shaped polygon on an
application plan. When selected, the mouse pointer will convert to .
Draw an irregular-shaped polygon:
1. Click Layers .
2. Select Edit for the application plan layer.
3. Select the Polygon tool .
4. Click the mouse to form an anchor point. Move the mouse to the next
location and click again. A line will be drawn between the two points.
Continue doing this until you have the shape you want.
• If you make a mistake or want to cancel the shape you are creating,
press the keyboard Escape key.
5. To close the polygon, click the final point on top of the first point you made.
6. In Other Rates, select a legend rate.
• If the rate you want does not exist, enter it in Set Map Rate. A new
color will automatically be assigned to it. Click OK.
7. Click OK.
8. Use the Select tool to position the rectangle.
Copy Shape
The Copy Shape tool is used to copy a contour shape from a soil type
map and use it on an application plan. When selected, the mouse
pointer will convert to .
Copy a polygon from a soil type map:
1. Click Layers .
2. Select Edit for the application plan layer; select View for the soil type layer.
• In the Layers chooser, move the soil type map layer so it is above the
application plan layer (you need to see it to copy from it).
3. Click Copy Shape .
4. Click on all the soil type map shapes you want to copy (they will be
highlighted).
5. Click End Copy Shape .
6. In Other Rates, select a legend rate.
