In the News Scholarship Winners Twenty students have been selected to receive scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each from the Landstar Scholarship Fund. The names were announced in March at Landstar’s Annual Convention. There were 83 eligible applications for the 2009- 2010 scholarships. In the past 11 years, Landstar has awarded 148 scholarships for a total of more than $302,000. The Landstar Scholarship Fund was established in 1995 to recognize and reward outstanding undergraduate and civic involvement. Scholarship recipients are well-rounded individuals who succeed both in and out of the classroom and whose qualities exemplify Landstar’s commitment to excellence. Eligible candidates are children of sales agents, BCOs and qualification center owners; children of employees of these independent contractors, as well as Landstar employees - other than officers. The Landstar Scholarship Fund is available to eligible candidates currently enrolled in high school and planning to enroll full-time at an accredited two or four-year college or university during the academic year for which the scholarship may be granted. Candidates already in a two- or four-year college or university must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credit hours and be planning to re-enroll for at least 12 credit hours during the academic year for which the scholarship may be granted. All candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
