<strong>Stefan</strong> <strong>Marcinowski</strong> was born in Stuttgart,<br />
Germany, in 1953. From 1971 to 1976, he<br />
studied chemistry at the Universities of Stuttgart<br />
and Freiburg. He obtained his doctorate in 1978<br />
at the institute of the biochemist Professor Hans<br />
Grisebach in Freiburg and stayed on as a<br />
research assistant until 1979.<br />
