Business Administration & Computing OUTCOME: National Certificate<br />

in Business<br />

Course Content<br />

Learning activities are practically based and range from core study in the key computer<br />

applications for business administration to communications, customer service and<br />

office skills. Keyboard skill and speed is also further developed.<br />

Future Opportunities<br />

With this certificate you will be able to apply for office administration assistant, retail<br />

and reception positions or complete further certificates, diplomas and degrees in<br />

business, commerce and computing.<br />

Carpentry Level 3<br />

Working in small groups using the latest tools and equipment, our expert tutors will<br />

guide you through core carpentry techniques and theories.<br />

Course Content<br />

Your training will be focused on understanding measurements, calculations, quantities,<br />

materials, carpentry methods as well as the use and care of hand and power tools. You<br />

will also complete 100 hours of workplace learning with a building company.<br />

Future Opportunities<br />

On completion of our course you can either move on to further training with the<br />

Certificate in Carpentry Level 4 or take on an apprenticeship and study at night school.<br />

Carpentry Level 4<br />

Expand your knowledge with our expert carpentry tutors taking your core carpentry<br />

techniques and theories to a more skilled level.<br />

Course Content<br />

Our course focuses on practical projects and carpentry theory. You will become<br />

confident with calculations, quantities, drawing, and improve your communication<br />

skills. Other subjects include the study of tools, machines and timbers plus you<br />

will learn about the construction details for single and two storey homes and light<br />

commercial buildings. You will also complete 100 hours of workplace learning with a<br />

building company.<br />

Future Opportunities<br />

On completion of our course you can move on to further training or take on an<br />

apprenticeship and study at night school. With further study, the construction industry<br />

has opportunities for promotion to jobs like leading hand, foreman, construction<br />

manager, project manager or running your own business as an independent contractor.<br />
