Applied Engineering: Design & Practice Level 2 OUTCOME: National Certificate in Electronic Technology Working with our experienced professionals you will explore the technical skills associated with Mechanical (Design & Drawing), Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Course Content In our course you will learn the various aspects of Applied Engineering within the Mechanical and Electrical disciplines. You will develop skills around Electronics Design and Assembly, as well as Mechanical Engineering Design including Computer Aided Design using 3D parametric modelling software (Inventor). Your work will be practical and project based and includes sketching and model making, both on the computer for virtual models, and in a laboratory/workshop for physical models. Successful students will obtain the National Certificate in Electronic Technology Level 2, 40 credits, together with 22 credits in Mechanical (Design and Drawing). Future Opportunities Further study options are the National Certificate in Electronic Technology Level 3 and New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE). Applied Engineering: Design & Practice Level 3 Further develop your skills in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Course Content On completion of this course you will be able to plan and produce Computer Aided Design (CAD) scale production drawings. You will select and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, and create and modify three dimensional engineering models. You will develop technical skills in the construction, operation and performance of electronic programmable circuits, electronic devices and prototypes. Knowledge of electronic product development, Analogue to Digital Conversion (ADC) and Digital to Analogue Conversion (DAC) digital electronic interface devices and logic circuits are also covered within this course. Successful students will obtain the National Certificate in Electronics Technology Level 3, 42 credits, together with 18 credits in Mechanical (Design and Drawing). Future Opportunities Depending on the school study chosen, you can progress from this course to the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE) or Bachelor of Engineering Technology. Discover the key skills and techniques for motor industry careers and work with our expert automotive and autobody tutors in world class workshops. Course Content Learn general aspects of automotive and autobody skills as well as the use and care of tools. You will also complete 120 hours of work experience with a reputable company. Our in-depth course helps you to understand motor and machine theories and topics like useful calculations, safe work practices and communication skills. Future Opportunities When you finish this course you will be ready to move on to Level 3 of apprenticeship based qualifications in whichever automotive area you choose to specialise in. You must successfully complete Level 3 before you can study the Level 4 course. Business Administration & Computing OUTCOME: National Certificate in Business Our professional tutors will guide you through the latest software and systems most businesses are using today. Course Content Learning activities are practically based and range from core study in the key computer applications for business administration to communications, customer service and office skills. Keyboard skill and speed is also further developed. Future Opportunities With this certificate you will be able to apply for office administration assistant, retail and reception positions or complete further certificates, diplomas and degrees in business, commerce and computing. Carpentry Level 3 Working in small groups using the latest tools and equipment, our expert tutors will guide you through core carpentry techniques and theories. Course Content Your training will be focused on understanding measurements, calculations, quantities, materials, carpentry methods as well as the use and care of hand and power tools. You will also complete 100 hours of workplace learning with a building company. Future Opportunities On completion of our course you can either move on to further training with the Certificate in Carpentry Level 4 or take on an apprenticeship and study at night school. Carpentry Level 4 Expand your knowledge with our expert carpentry tutors taking your core carpentry techniques and theories to a more skilled level. Course Content Our course focuses on practical projects and carpentry theory. You will become confident with calculations, quantities, drawing, and improve your communication skills. Other subjects include the study of tools, machines and timbers plus you will learn about the construction details for single and two storey homes and light commercial buildings. You will also complete 100 hours of workplace learning with a building company. Future Opportunities On completion of our course you can move on to further training or take on an apprenticeship and study at night school.
