QUESTIONS
Q How many actual NCEA credits are there?
a This depends on the course that you choose to do.
All credits will go towards your NCEA qualification.
Q Are there any fees?
a There are no fees associated with these courses –
all materials and equipment will be supplied.
Q Is there funding for travel to and from the course?
a Transport funding is decided on a case by case
basis. Each school must advise CTC of anticipated
costs for the duration of the course so that funding
can be approved.
Q Will I be in a class with adults or other school students?
a Classes will only have students from Canterbury
secondary schools.
Q Who finds the work experience?
a CTC works with you to find a suitable work
experience placement.
Q Are the qualifications internationally recognised?
a Yes, all qualifications are recognised by NZQA on
the National Qualifications Framework.
Q Do I have to go to school every day and
what if I don’t go?
a You need to participate fully in both your
secondary school course and your CTC course.
Your attendance is monitored daily.
Q Can I change my days or course option?
a This will depend on when you want to make the
change and if there is space available in the option
you want to move to.
Q Can I go back to school if it doesn’t work out?
a Yes, you can return to school full time.
Q Can I get help with learning?
a All students on CTC courses have access to a
variety of learning support services. Just let us
know if you need our help.
Q Will this course give me direct entry to further study
in a higher qualification?
a All CTC courses have pathways to higher levels of
education across the tertiary sector. Entry depends
on your results.
