Pre Health & Support* Our professional tutors will train you in many aspects of health care and give you an insight into all of the different directions you can take in this sector. Course Content Exploring health and social services through practical training, work observation, industry visits and guest speakers will help you take care of others as well as give insight into own your state of wellbeing. You will complete the St John’s Workplace First Aid Certificate and other courses including: • Introduction to Health & Social Services • Interpersonal Communication • Activities of Daily Living • Human Growth & Development • Personal Health & Wellness • Career Development. Future Opportunities You can work with children or adults as a caregiver or support worker in health, education or social services sectors, or choose to gain further qualifications like the Certificate in Human Services, Diploma in Enrolled Nursing or the National Certificate in Mental Health Support Work. Advanced studies include degrees like the Bachelor of Social Work or the Bachelor of Nursing. Science & Health* Our science team will help you understand the different strands of science including those related to health and the human body. Course Content Exploring science through a hands-on approach you will learn fundamental knowledge and skills in various areas of science including human anatomy, microbiology and chemistry. Future Opportunities Successful completion of this certificate, combined with suitable achievement in English and Mathematics at school, enables you to apply for entry to one of the following degrees: Bachelor of Medical Imaging and the Bachelor of Applied Science specialising in Laboratory Technology, Sports & Exercise Science or Physical Activity, Health & Wellness. Welding & Structural Steel Train with our expert tutors and work in small groups to learn techniques for making, joining and repairing metalwork. Course Content In this pre trade course you will complete 60 hours work experience and learn key welding skills as well as: • interpreting drawings and making calculations • recognising and setting machinery • thermal cutting • Arc and MIG welding processes • industrial safety processes. Future Opportunities You may choose to continue your studies as an apprentice or take a full time study option with the Certificate in Engineering (Fitting Turning & Tool Making) and the National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering which will see you qualified to study for the National Certificate in Engineering Level 4 in the fields of either: mechanical, engineering, heavy or light fabrication or steel construction.
