Electrical Engineering Level 2<br />

Trained by our expert professionals in safe and specialised facilities, you will work in<br />

small groups to learn basic skills in electrical practices.<br />

Course Content<br />

You will focus on the use of electrical diagrams, instruments and mechanics as well<br />

as simple mathematics and measurements. We teach you the best way to solder<br />

wires and components, how to install flexible cords and the use of safeguards with<br />

portable appliances.<br />

Part of our course includes work experience and we also teach safe working practices<br />

and safety testing, first-aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and basic<br />

employment rights and workplace responsibilities.<br />

Future Opportunities<br />

On successful completion of our course you can move on to the National Certificate<br />

in Electrical Engineering Level 3 or take on an apprenticeship completing your<br />

studies at night school.<br />

Electrical Engineering Level 3<br />

Learn more advanced skills to help start your career in the electrical industry once<br />

you have successfully completed the National Certificate in Electrical Engineering<br />

Level 2.<br />

Course Content<br />

Following from your Level 2 studies, our expert professionals will guide you through<br />

a course of key electrical practices including: drawing and interpreting electrical<br />

diagrams; computer applications for electrical engineers; AC motors, power and<br />

power factor theory; earthing, single phase and three phase; and power supplies,<br />

cables and accessories. Other aspects include work experience with a reputable<br />

company, trade and safety standards, report writing and employee rights and<br />

responsibilities. <strong>CTC</strong> only delivers the off-job component of the National Certificate.<br />

To complete the on-job requirements of this qualification you will be required to<br />

enter a training agreement with the ETITO.<br />

Future Opportunities<br />

Once you have completed 80% or more of the National Certificate in Electrical<br />

Engineering Level 3 (153 credits) you can move on to the National Certificate in<br />

Electrical Engineering Level 4.<br />

Furniture & Joinery<br />

Expert tutors will introduce you to the tools, materials and processes common to<br />

the Furniture and Joinery industries.<br />

Course Content<br />

During this course you will learn about using hand and power tools and fixed<br />

machinery under supervision. You will be able to hand turn wood to produce<br />

furniture articles and understand the differences between timber and manufactured<br />

boards. Measuring and calculating on freehand, isometric and oblique drawing<br />

desks are also developed. Learn how to use adhesives and sealants, mechanical<br />

fixings and methods of attachment. Safe practices and documents used to order,<br />

receive, handle and store joinery materials are studied, as well as the safe working<br />

practices required in joinery workplaces. Completion of this course fulfils the entry<br />

requirements for the Certificate in Furniture & Joinery Level 3.<br />

Future Opportunities<br />

You can seek a career in the Furniture and Joinery industry or progress to further<br />

study in the Certificate in Furniture & Joinery Level 3 and Level 4.<br />
