Corp; funded by US Agency for International Development)<br />

r Ktunaxa Nation of Canada and North Rupununi District Development Board partnership project for<br />

purpose of achieving development results through transfer of Canadian Aboriginal tourism<br />

knowledge and skills to indigenous tourism communities and other entities in Guyana. Phase One<br />

occurred in 2007, and involved a field trip to in Guyana and community meetings to define training<br />

program detailed concept and workplan. In 2008, Phase Two program includes tourism basics<br />

training workshops for 32 representatives from 10 North Rupununi Macushi villages, and product<br />

development assistance for six villages. (Canadian International Development Agency Indigenous<br />

Peoples Partnership Program)<br />

r Project to forward sustainable tourism development in Guyana through adoption of the proper<br />

planning, management, and promotion of environmental and social good practices. Included two<br />

main components: 2-day interactive workshops in four locations based on Conservation<br />

International’s A Practical Guide to Good Practice for Tropical Forest Based Tours; and, in<br />

collaboration with the project partners and the tourism sector, preparation of a draft code of conduct<br />

and good practices checklist for birding tourism in Guyana (British High Commission to Guyana).<br />

r Iwokrama International Centre for Rainforest Conservation training program to provide knowledge<br />

and skills to Guyana’s leading birding guides so they will be better equipped to provide international<br />

caliber birding guide services to the international and domestic tourism markets (IIC-European<br />

Union Guyana Micro-Projects Programme project).<br />

r One year post hurricane-Ivan tourism rebuilding project. Horticulture, agri-, nature, culture and<br />

community tourism product and market assessment; packaging and marketing training; business<br />

planning and marketing mentoring; and special interest tour operator familiarization tour planning<br />

and implementation for Grenada (CARANA Corp; funded by US Agency for International<br />

Development)<br />

r Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, a Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games Shared<br />

Legacy project in Whistler, Canada. Six year project (2001 to 2008) includes development and<br />

implementation of marketing strategy, from branding to collateral development and acting as project<br />

manager for marketing and PR initiatives. In addition, cultural experiences and fundraising<br />

coordination assistance. (Squamish and Lil’wat First Nations)<br />

r Conference Coordination for IIPT Third Global Summit on Peace through Tourism, October 2-5,<br />

2005, Pattaya, Thailand (International Institute of Peace Through Tourism)<br />

r Niche tour operator development project focussing on community tourism sector for Belize Travel<br />

Authority (Belize Tourism Board; funded by CIDA <strong>Caribbean</strong> Project for Economic Competitiveness<br />

(CPEC))<br />

r Nature, culture and adventure tourism product and market assessment and special interest tour<br />

operator development recommendations for Dominica (National Development Corporation,<br />

Government of Dominica; funded by CIDA <strong>Caribbean</strong> Project for Economic Competitiveness)<br />

r Assisting Barbados government in preparing a legal and regulatory framework for tourism<br />

development, including nature and cultural tourism (Government of Barbados, Ministry of Foreign<br />

Affairs, Tourism and International Transport)<br />

r Assessment of international environmental certification programs for hotels in relation to their<br />

suitability to the <strong>Caribbean</strong> small hotel sector (Organization of American States)<br />

r Assisting with international ecotourism lodge and resort operators finance survey (The International<br />

Ecotourism Society)<br />

r Development of a marketing and promotional plan for the <strong>Caribbean</strong> Tourism Credentialing<br />

Program’s (CTCP) Certification System (<strong>Caribbean</strong> Tourism Credentialing Program and Tourism<br />
