1900's. So, it is presumed that all Mantaks are related. The current President of
Slovakia, Rudolf Schuster, is a Mantak. The Mantaks on the average are
entrepeneurial and place high value on education (compared both to their Slovak
neighbors and Germans in Germany). At one time, Cleveland's largest employer
was a Mantak. My maternal line goes like this: Cecelia Anne Clancy (me) b 1956 in
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania USA; Ruth Irene King b 1928 in Pittsburgh; Rose Barbara
Mueller/Miller b 1894 in Pittsburgh d circa 1986 in Pittsburgh; Maria Meder b Feb
2nd or 4th 1860 in Obermetzenseifen and died circa 1936 in Pittsburgh, Anna Maria
Schuster b circa 1829 in Metzenseifen probably Ober- and married to Franciscus
Meder on Oct 21, 1847) b circa 1829 and probably died in Metzenseifen; Elisabeth
Meder. Franciscus Meder's parents were Bartholomew Meder and Maria
Schmotzer both of Metzenseifen. Anna Maria Schuster's parents were Caspar
Schuster and Elizabeth Meder.
Comments: So far I have been able to trace back to Mary Wilson born 2 Aug 1751
and died before 1834 in Rowan Co., North Carolina. I expected that my ancestors
came from Europe, but I had no idea that they were some of the first settlers to push
back the ice sheets..
