Comments: my great, great, grandmother was Johanna (maiden name unknown).
Born in 1849 in Cork Ireland and died in NYC between 1900 and 1910. Her
daughter was Ellen Reagan born in Cork, Ireland in 1868 - died in NYC in 1897.
My grandmother, Irene Elizabeth Jagoe was born on January 19, 1892 and died in
Port Jervis, Orange Co., New York on February 5, 1937. Still pondering results, but
Comments: I am from Helena's clan, as found by Brian Sykes/Oxford Ancestors. I
have traced my maternal line back to 1794 Edinburgh,Scotland. The only person I
have so far been in contact with who has the same mutations, is a lady in the US
whose mother also had Scottish maternal line ancestry.
Comments: My oldest maternal ancestor was a woman named Sally Wright, born in
Monogalia County, West Virginia, in 1798 and who died in 1855 in Upshur County,
West Virginia. Other surnames which appear in my maternal line are Hinkle,
Chipps, Wenger, Cecil, Dean, and Musgrave, and they were born in West Virginia,
Michigan, Nebraska, and California. (I am from Hawai`i.) The surprise that my
mtDNA type gave me was that this is an unusual type for Europeans, such as my
ancestors. It is apparently more common in Western Asia than in Europe. This was
not something I expected to find in my own family tree--although there have been
weirder results reported.
