KODAK VISION2 HD<br />

Color Scan Film<br />

KODAK VISION2 HD Color Scan Film 7299 is a<br />

color negative camera film designed for use<br />

exclusively with the KODAK VISION2 HD<br />

System. Available in 16 mm widths only, it is a<br />

medium- to high-speed, extended latitude<br />

film with fine grain and excellent sharpness.<br />

Created specifically for television production,<br />

this film allows you to match the tone and<br />

color of many KODAK color negative film<br />

stocks when transferred with the KODAK<br />

VISION2 HD Digital Processor. This powerful<br />

digital processing combined with the film's<br />

extended latitude makes it possible to shoot<br />

this film at a nominal exposure index of either<br />

500 or 320.<br />

Further, even though this is a tungstenbalanced<br />

film, the KODAK VISION2 HD Digital<br />

Processor can compensate for color balance if<br />

the film is shot in daylight conditions without<br />

a Wratten 85 filter. The digital processing can also compensate for over and under exposures. The film is intended for<br />

scanning applications only and is not printable through traditional optical printing methods. The film must be<br />

transferred through the KODAK VISION2 HD Digital Processor hardware. KODAK will loan the KODAK VISION2 HD<br />

Digital Processor System to post production houses designated to Kodak by production companies using the KODAK<br />

VISION2 HD Color Scan Film 7299. Minimum volume purchases may be required to qualify for the use of a dedicated<br />

Digital Processor. Also, minimum system requirements must be met by the post house to operate the hardware.<br />

systems installed throughout the US, and with contracts to more than double that<br />

is one of the largest and most diverse visual imaging facilities in the world.<br />

Cinesite currently uses an array of cutting edge scanners and recorders from<br />

Northlight, ARRI and Cineon to work on in-house productions. They also operate<br />

Winding Designations<br />

A plastic core is normally used with all 16 mm films in<br />

lengths over 60.96 m/200 ft and with all 35 mm films in<br />

lengths over 30.48 m/100 ft. Camera spools are normally<br />

supplied with 35 mm x 30.48 m/100-ft rolls and 16 mm x<br />

30.48 m/100-ft and 60.96 m/200-ft rolls.<br />

It is necessary to designate the desired winding for 16<br />

mm film perforated one edge and for 35 mm film with<br />

16 mm and 8 mm perforations. Proper choice of winding<br />

depends on the equipment upon which the film is to be<br />

used. The following sketches illustrate the various<br />

windings:<br />

16 mm Winding A 16 mm Winding B<br />

In the above sketches the film is wound on cores and<br />

the emulsion side of the film faces the center of the<br />

roll. When the roll is held so that the outside or leader<br />

end of the film leaves the roll at the top and toward<br />

the right, Winding A has the perforations along the<br />

edge of the film toward the observer and Winding B<br />

has the perforations along the edge away from the<br />

observer.<br />

35 mm Winding A 35 mm Winding B<br />

In the above sketches the film is wound on cores and the<br />

emulsion side of the film faces the center of the roll.<br />

When the roll is held so that the outside or leader end of<br />

the film leaves the roll at the top toward the right,<br />

Winding A has the small hole between the perforations<br />

along the edge away from the observer and Winding B<br />

has the small hole between the perforations along the<br />

edge toward the observer.<br />
