Using the VLE Pack in RM Learning Platform (formerly Kaleidos) (PC)
It is not necessary to use the VLE Pack’s interface when uploading Content Packs to RM Learning Platform.
However, if you wish to browse the VLE Pack content menus prior to uploading Content Packs to RM
Learning Platform, you may find it helpful to access the product using the product’s interface.
1. To do this, first insert the VLE Pack disk into your computer’s DVD drive.
2. The disk should launch automatically, presenting you with the Welcome screen from which you can
access the content menus.

Uploading content to RM Learning Platform
1. From any of the RM Learning Platform VLE pages, select ‘Content Packs’ from the drop down menu
in the top right hand corner.
2. Click the ‘Upload a Content Pack’ icon.

3. Browse for the ‘Smart ICT VLE Pack’.
4. Open the SCORM folder and select the required Content Pack to be uploaded.
This is available as individual Lesson content or by Unit.

5. Select the ZIP folder you want and then ‘Open’. This will display the ‘Upload Content Pack’ page.
Now select ‘Upload’.

6. When uploaded, the Content Pack requires validation. Another Content Pack can also be uploaded
at this time. Large Content Packs may take a while to upload, depending on speed of connection –
so be patient!

7. Return to the Content Pack screen above and click on the ‘Activate Content Packs’ icon.
8. Click on Accept Terms and Conditions.

9. Select ‘I have read and accept the terms and conditions for this content pack’ and then click
‘Activate’. This imports the Content Pack and it is then ready to use.

Allocating the VLE Pack content to ‘courses’ within RM Learning Platform
1. Open the course into which you want to add files from the VLE Pack.
Note: You could choose to set up a course for a whole year group, or for each Unit of work. If you have set
up a course for a whole year group, then you will need to add either all the Unit packages or all the
Lesson packages to the course. If you have set up a course for each Unit, then only the relevant Unit
or Lesson packages need to be added to each course.

2. Select the icon, which will allow you to search for items from the VLE Pack.
3. In the ‘Search By…’ dropdown menu, select ‘Browsing Content Packs’.

4. Double-click your establishment name.
5. Double-click ‘Smart Learning’ to give access to the list of content in the VLE Pack.

6. Double-click the required unit to include it in your course.
7. Double-click to open the ‘Smart Skills Builder ICT Pack’ folder.

8. Select the resource you wish to include and click ‘Include in course’.
Multiple selections can be made.

9. To make it easier to add other files and content to individual tutorials to support learning, it is
advisable to create folders for each tutorial within a unit and add the VLE content to these.
