Throughout the 2009 H1N1 p<strong>and</strong>emic<br />

<strong>and</strong> pre-p<strong>and</strong>emic period, <strong>AI</strong>.<strong>COMM</strong><br />

continued to work with the H2P<br />

partners to ensure that information was<br />

responsive <strong>and</strong> accessible. As part of this<br />

effort, <strong>AI</strong>.<strong>COMM</strong> created, maintained<br />

<strong>and</strong> managed the H2P Website –<br />

www.p<strong>and</strong>emicpreparedness.org –<br />

a site that has been accessed by over 120<br />

countries. The website continues to be<br />

linked <strong>and</strong> recommended by many<br />

experts in the infl uenza <strong>and</strong> humanitarian<br />

communities, <strong>and</strong> is one of the primary<br />

p<strong>and</strong>emic sites when searching online.<br />

<strong>AI</strong>.<strong>COMM</strong> also created <strong>and</strong> continues to<br />

manage the H2P presence on Twitter under<br />

the moniker: panfl uprep. This account<br />

allows for <strong>AI</strong>.<strong>COMM</strong> to post messages<br />

pertaining to H2P <strong>and</strong> the current<br />

infl uenza outbreak to a wider community,<br />

highlighting key developments, events<br />

<strong>and</strong> materials.<br />

<strong>AI</strong>.<strong>COMM</strong> staff also worked with UNICEF<br />

in developing a global communication<br />

strategy in response to p<strong>and</strong>emic infl uenza,<br />

Social Mobilization <strong>and</strong> Behavior Change<br />

Communication for P<strong>and</strong>emic Response:<br />

Planning Guidance. Other outreach<br />

included a meeting on the H1N1 response<br />

in July 2009 that brought together several<br />

H2P partners <strong>and</strong> UN actors with US<strong>AI</strong>D<br />

to discuss a strategic work plan in<br />

responding to H1N1, <strong>and</strong> <strong>AI</strong>.<strong>COMM</strong><br />

participation in the InterAction H2P<br />

Regional Conferences in Addis Ababa,<br />

Ethiopia (May 2009), Pretoria, South<br />

Africa (July 2009) <strong>and</strong> Hanoi, Vietnam<br />

(September 2009) to provide communication<br />

support <strong>and</strong> get the word out on<br />

available H1N1 communication tools.<br />
