On 9 May, Soviet troops arrived on Bornholm, where 150 front<br />

soldiers immediately began to plunder, rob and steal. <strong>The</strong>y were<br />

particularly keen on watches. <strong>The</strong>y then began to rape the women.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Soviet military leadership established a communist dictatorship.<br />

Eventually more than 8000 Soviet soldiers were stationed on the<br />

island, drinking and committing acts <strong>of</strong> violence. A few <strong>of</strong> the worst<br />

vandals were executed, however.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Soviet military, which claimed they had come to defeat the<br />

Nazis, had no intention <strong>of</strong> leaving the island. <strong>The</strong> local population<br />

was concerned, and painted all houses black. <strong>The</strong> islanders were<br />

beginning to hate the Soviet Union.<br />

On 16 March 1946, the first rumours were heard that the Russians<br />

might leave the island. On 5 April, the last <strong>of</strong> the NKVD soldiers left<br />

Bornholm. This was the same day that the Soviet troops withdrew<br />

from northern Iran. <strong>The</strong> masonic elite had second thoughts about<br />

Denmark.<br />

It later became known that as early as 23 April 1945, a Soviet<br />

people's commissar had demanded that the Red Army be allowed to<br />

take Bornholm. On 24 April, orders were given that the Bornholm<br />

operation should go ahead, and on 4 May the time had come to act.<br />

General Ivan Batov let the Danish major Holger Jorgensen copy<br />

certain documents, when after many years, he paid a visit to Born-<br />

holm. It was Batov's soldiers who had occupied the island.<br />

When the Indo-Chinese Communist Party seized <strong>power</strong> in all <strong>of</strong><br />

Vietnam in August 1945, the financiers <strong>of</strong> Wall Street were pleased.<br />

<strong>The</strong> conservative French head <strong>of</strong> government, Charles de Gaulle, who<br />

felt a certain responsibility towards Vietnam as a former French<br />

colony, intervened, and in September 1945 he tried to overthrow the<br />

communists in the southern part <strong>of</strong> the country. This irritated the<br />

United States that demanded that France interrupt its actions to get<br />

rid <strong>of</strong> the communists in January 1946. France was forced to<br />

recognize the "democratic" People's Republic <strong>of</strong> Vietnam.<br />

As the communist terror intensified, the French government<br />

ignored Washington and in December 1946 initiated new attempts at<br />
