3.0 Demolition down to 1/F slab and beam.<br />

1. Hand tools only are to be used.<br />

2. Remove brickwork <strong>of</strong> parapet down to beam s<strong>of</strong>fit on the courtyard side and down to the<br />

original brickwork on the external wall.<br />

3. Make good top <strong>of</strong> the original external wall as necessary in lime mortar brickwork.<br />

4. Commence breaking <strong>of</strong> concrete <strong>at</strong> shortest span <strong>of</strong> the ro<strong>of</strong> slab and proceed perpendicular to<br />

long span in strips <strong>of</strong> not more than 800mm.<br />

5. Remove strips from the centre towards the supports – see Fig. below.<br />

6. Remove all debris from one strip be<strong>for</strong>e commencing next strip.<br />

7. After removal <strong>of</strong> R.C. ro<strong>of</strong> slab cut and remove rein<strong>for</strong>cing steel.<br />

8. Using hand held tools only breakout ro<strong>of</strong> beam from the centre outwards. Remove debris<br />

immedi<strong>at</strong>ely.<br />
