Among the Muslim combatants, inhabitants of Bukovica village recognized some people who once lived in Pljevlja municipality, including several who had moved to Goražde, Čajniče and other places in Bosnia 15 years ago, as well as those who had moved out and joined Muslim units five or six months ago. Two days after this Muslim army passed through, 11 Bukovica Muslims whose close and distant relatives were recognized as members of the Muslim unit which committed the crimes in villages around Čajniče, were taken away. 73 The police chief also denied rumors that more than 11 Muslims had been abducted: ”It is not true that 28 Muslims were taken, still less is it true that 39 Muslim citizens who reside in Pljevlja municipality were implicated in the crimes in the Čajniče area.“ 74 In March 1993, the HLC was able to confirm the circulation in Pljevlja of a list of Muslim members of the Green Berets who allegedly took part in the offensive on Čajniče on that February. In a letter to the Pljevlja Police Department, the Bosnian Serb police authorities in Čajniče said there were ”grounds to believe that these committed genocide against the Serb population in Šapići, Trpinje and Ponikve villages. On the same occasion, Chief Aranitović said the police had established that the list consisted of ”the names of persons who were born here but no longer live in this area. Therefore, there is no official information that Muslims residing in Pljevlja municipality were involved in the crimes in the Čajniče area.“ 76 These crimes against Serbs, which were followed by the abduction of the Bungur family, are mentioned in Miroslav Toholj’s Black Book - The Suffering of Serbs in Bosnia-Herzegovina 1992-1995 in which he says: The advance on Čajniče referred to by Buljubašić (Ferid, former officer of the Yugoslav National Army, founded the First Sandžak and First Drina Brigades) was in fact an attack carried out by his forces on 15 February on Ponikve village in the territory of Čajniče 76 ”Pobjeda“, Podgorica, 19 March 1 55
