Depart Pristina toward Mitrovica for the drive to the village of Stan Treg, where you will visit
the Museum of Crystals. Learn the history of nearby mines from the manager of the Trepça
mines, which during Yugoslav times was owned by one of the largest companies in the country.
Arrive in Bajgorës and enjoy Turkish coffee and mineral water from the fresh springs of Shala
e Bajgorës. See a village cooking demonstration of “Flia” and traditional roast lamb with
spinach. In Shala, we will hear a demonstration of a traditional shepherds’ flute, meet
local hunters and scouts, sample Shala’s natural spring water, see the diverse flora,
including medicinal herbs, of the “Shala e Bajgorës” mountain, visit the “race track”
- a rare natural phenomenon of a field where the grass stays green all year, even
during the coldest winters. While visiting “Shala e Bajgorës,” we will also meet
the academic artists of Mitrovica. Enjoy a performance by a traditional
Albanian band at the Motel Dodona and dinner with typical Shala
e Bajgorës dishes: Flia served with cream, yoghurt and white
cheese, lamb roasted in a classic stone oven, Kosovo wine,
spicy dried meat, spinach “pite” and “kos” yoghurt.
