Begin your walking tour <strong>of</strong> Peja and visit the Old Market <strong>of</strong> Peja, Çarshia e Pejës, the Peja<br />

Museum, the Institute for Heritage Protection, a traditional mill and the “kulla” <strong>of</strong> Haxhi Zeka,<br />

a Peja patriot who fought against Ottoman rule for 30 years.<br />

Vranoc<br />

Drive to Vranoc village and enjoy the traditional hospitality <strong>of</strong> “Bukë, Kripë e Zemër” (“bread,<br />

salt, and heart”). Visit the monument <strong>of</strong> the war hero, Ardian Krasniqi, various Ottoman archeological<br />

sites and the mosque. In Vranoc, you will also visit the “kullas” <strong>of</strong> several prominent and<br />

successful <strong>Kosovo</strong> people, meet their families and hear their stories firsthand. You will hear<br />

the history <strong>of</strong> the Krasniqi family from Sherif Krasniqi, the oldest member <strong>of</strong> the family,<br />

and meet the family <strong>of</strong> Harry Bajraktari, one <strong>of</strong> the most successful <strong>Kosovo</strong> émigrés<br />

in the U.S. You will also learn about traditional manufacturing techniques as you<br />

visit the unique Old Stone Mill and see the “valavica,” used for washing<br />

clothes in the old days.
