Protection of the environment and the
sustainable use of resources are
becoming ever more important. The car
industry is no exception, with these
topics increasingly in the spotlight.
The Green Directory is a response to
this trend. It is the “green visitor guide” to
Automechanika, and acknowledges only
those exhibitors who make a particularly
“green” contribution via their innovations
and services.

Innovation awards
Automechanika South Africa successfully staged Innovation Awards in
2009 and 2011 offering exhibitors the opportunity of having their
innovative products highlighted in a competition judged by a panel of
qualified judges. The Innovation Award was well supported in 2009 and
2011 and far more entries are expected in 2013.

The Automechanika will provide an overview of the various concepts for
the ‘mobility of the future’ with exhibitors from all different segments
presenting their innovative solutions in the fields of original equipment,
conversion, vehicle and loading accessories, waste disposal and recycling.
Additionally, a number of companies that initially appear to have nothing to
do with the automobile market will also make presentations at
Automechanika. However, they are set to play an important role in
connection with the electro-mobility of the future and include battery
manufacturers, companies from the renewable energy sector, e.g., solar or
wind power, as well as universities and training facilities that train
tomorrow’s ‘automechanics’.
