Fringed by an immaculate white-sand beach graced
by the most glorious sunsets, la pirogue revisited
remains true to its traditional values of authentic
Mauritian hospitality, romance and tranquillity. inspired
by the famous fishing boats of Mauritius from which
the resort takes its name, la pirogue’s unique
architectural style is enhanced in its guestrooms by
the added rustic warmth of wood and thatch.
the cottages which all open privately on the resort’s
magnificent palm-grove of over 1000 coconut trees
and on the sea, feature new warm shades and
greater comfort throughout, bathroom included.
the resort boasts a magnificent pool of over
1000 square metres that merges into the indian
ocean. A harmonious combination of intimately cosy
coves and open play areas, this “pool of pools” with
its islets, paul & Virginie restaurant and the Beach bar
are at the heart of la pirogue.
la pirogue is a celebration of the best in world
gastronomy, with marked emphasis on demonstration,
generosity and variety, both at its main restaurant
thatches at paul & Virginie, around the pool and by
the beach. More than ever la pirogue reasserts its
vocation as a resort dedicated to the sea and to its
pleasures, shared with a loved one, or with family or
friends, for the most wonderful of tropical-holiday
memories.

AccoMModAtion
All guestrooms are at ground-level and open
privately on the magnificent palmgrove and the
indian ocean. each is equipped with its own
air-conditioning fan unit and comprises twin beds
or a double bed with a built-in drawer; a redesigned
bathroom with separate bath and shower, toilet and
110/220-volt socket for electric razor; a mini-bar;
a safe; a hair-dryer; lcd Flatscreen with satellite
channels, a cartoon channel for kids and a teletext
information system; a telephone with international
direct dialing (idd); equipment for making tea
and coffee; and a furnished private terrace. room
service operates 24 hours a day.
STANDARD ROOMS
34 communicating standard rooms (25m²) and
166 non-communicating standard rooms (25m²),
including 1 handicap room. For a child under
12 years old or a third adult sharing the room,
a extra bed is provided.
SUPERIOR ROOMS
46 superior rooms (35m²). the Superior guestrooms
are situated closer to the sea. there is the possibility
to accommodate 2 children under 12 years old or
1 extra bed for 1 adult.
ROYAL SUITES
the 2 royal Suites are of 78m² each: ‘Flamboyant’
and ‘Bougainvillaea’ royal suites, boast large living
and dining areas, double terraces and special
double rooms and bathrooms with Jacuzzi, guest
toilets and a private cove set in the gardens for
additional privacy. these Suites can accommodate
two adults only.

eStAurAntS & BArS
THATCHES
Spacious and tropical, the main restaurant, on the
terrace, is open daily for breakfast. the complete
breakfast buffet comprises traditional english breakfast
and added creole, Mauritian and indian signature items,
for a great start to the day. At dinnertime, discover the
exciting dining experience. For the more romantic, the
restaurant also features cosy thatched dining pavilion
around a striking decorative and reflective pond. open
for breakfast and dinner.
PAUL & VIRGINIE
By the beach, with romantic thatched dining pavilions
overhanging the ‘infinity’ pool against the dramatic
backdrop of le Morne Mountain across the sea,
the rustic charm of the à-la carte paul & Virginie
restaurant favours warmth and intimacy. open for
lunch and dinner. enjoy the seafood buffet every
friday at paul & Virginie beach. open from 12.30 pm
to 2.30 pm and from 7.30 pm to 10 pm.
CITRONELLA’S CAFÉ
Facing the sea, between la pirogue and Sugar Beach,
guests can savour the delights of the Mediterranean’s
sunny cuisines – from tasty light snacks to the best
italian restaurants’ traditional dishes – in the cordial
warmth of citronella’s handsome dining room or in the
shade of the café’s teak terrace. open for lunch from
12.30 pm to 3 pm. closed on Mondays. dinner from
7.30 pm to 10.30 pm. closed on Sundays.
TIDES
located at the beach front, this restaurant offers a
world seafood cuisine for lunch and dinner. Guests
can compose their own platter from the elaborate and
spectacular centrepiece counter from fresh shellfish,
mussels, oysters and a variety of handmade Sushi and
Sashimi. open for lunch and dinner from 12.30 pm to
2.30 pm and from 7.30 pm to 10 pm.
BLUE BAR, COCONUT CAFÉ, BEACH BAR
offer a wide choice of contemporary tropical cocktails
and rums and an important selection of beverages,
liqueurs, beers and spirits of international brands, as
well as delicious espressos, cigars. lunch at
coconut café.

SUN KIDS CLUB
For children aged 2 to 11 years. open 12 hours a
day, purpose-planned and equipped to cater for the
specific needs of children on holiday, the Sun Kids
club offers numerous age-appropriate fun activities,
as well as special menus, buffets and barbecues
specifically prepared for the kids under the watchful
eye of specially-trained hostesses. Activities include
tennis, windsurfing, swimming and excursions.
the services of a babysitter (for which there is an
extra charge) are required for 2 and 3-year-olds.
TEENS CLUB
the ideal meeting-place for guests aged 12 to 17,
the teens club organises and runs sports activities,
outings, excursions and special evenings for
teenagers.

Kayaking, laser-sailing, pedal boats, glass-bottomboat
rides, snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing (sport
catamaran), aqua gym classes in the resort’s
swimming-pool, tennis (floodlit courts, available

mini-football, ping-pong, beach volleyball, badminton.

Scuba-diving (pAdi courses are also available),
big-game fishing, waterskiing, parasailing, bananaboat
and supertube rides, giant-catamaran outings,
mountain-biking, bocciball (chips available at a fee),
submarine dives and dolphin-discovery excursions.
Golf at le tamarina Golf estate situated at
15 minutes’ drive from the hotel.
AurA SpA & hAMMAM
the Aura experience conveys a message of personal
well-being, comfort, cocooning and pampering.
the word “Aura” is often associated with ambiance,
atmosphere, mystery, life and emotions, all of which
are embedded in the philosophy of Aura, where each
individual is guided through a journey into unknown
realms. the Spa comprises both single and couples
treatment rooms and also has a dedicated Shiatsu
treatment area. For the ultimate therapy, try the

the resort features two conference rooms, namely
the Sesame room (250 m 2 ) on the 3rd floor,
which can accommodate 225 persons and the
Muscade room (315 m 2 ) on the 1st floor, which can
accommodate 130 persons in banquet style.
