Mountains Community Hospital (MCH) is a full-service
hospital with 17 medical/surgical beds and
20 extended care and recovery beds. Physicians
staff the MCH emergency department 24 hours a day.
Inpatient services include acute and extended care, post-acute
care rehabilitation and respite care. In addition to emergency services,
outpatient diagnostic services include pulmonary function,
laboratory, cardiac stress testing and radiology (X-ray, CT, ultrasound,
bone density and mammography). Outpatient rehabilitation
services include physical therapy, occupational therapy and
speech therapy as well a primary care Medi-Cal Rural Clinic.
MCH is Medicare and Medi-Cal certified and licensed by
the State of California. MCH is one of the few small rural hospitals
accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations. MCH is proud of the quality of
medical care it provides to the community and visitors.
Mountains Community Hospital accepts Medicare, Medi-Cal,
Aetna, IEHP, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, United Healthcare/Pacifi-
Care, CCN, as well as indemnity insurance and workers’ compensation
insurance. In addition the hospital also accepts a number
of HMO and Senior Advantage contracts through cooperation
with the local physicians and the Regal Medical Group.
Physicians contract independently with insurance companies
and, therefore, may not have the same insurance
contracts as the hospital. Because of the many
healthcare insurance options that exist, patients are encouraged
to contact the physician’s office directly to confirm if the
physician is a participating provider in a particular insurance
plan. Although physicians are not MCH employees, the hospital
is proud they chose MCH as a place to practice.
The MCH Auxiliary has been providing volunteers to support
the hospital since 1957. On an annual basis this amounts
to over 11,000 hours.
The Mountains Community Hospital Foundation was incorporated
in 1991 and since that time has raised over $3 million to
support the hospital. The nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation’s board
is made up of approximately 30 members of the community.
