Scope and Content Note<br />

In addition to the papers of Matteo Della Corte and Tatiana Warscher, which form the<br />

core of this archive, <strong>Vander</strong> <strong>Poel</strong> acquired smaller <strong>collection</strong>s of material belonging to<br />

three other <strong>Campanian</strong> scholars. Pietro Soprano and G. Oscar Onorato were<br />

archaeologists who worked at Pompeii and other <strong>Campanian</strong> sites in the mid-twentieth<br />

century. H. J. Johnston-Lavis was one of the leading authorities on southern Italian<br />

volcanoes in the late nineteenth century.<br />
