Ba in Science, health, and living Systems
The mission of this program is to teach students to apply the
contents of scientific inquiry within an ethical, cultural, historical,
and philosophical framework. We aim to provide students with the
opportunity to examine the philosophical foundation, princi ples,
methods, and assumptions of scientific disciplines and to explore
the nature of individuals and their interactions with the
environment. The BA program fosters the development of
integrative models by teaching students to appreciate the
interac tion of interdependent holons and to engage society’s major
questions concerning health risk and health outcome through the
lens of public health. The curriculum is guided by the premise that
a liberal arts education is defined not by subject matter but by ways
of teaching and learning. The curriculum delivers a liberal arts
education where discovery is encouraged, not where the subjects
are taught as facts to be memorized. The goal of this holistic
curriculum is to foster an understanding of the factors, conditions,
interrelationships, and interactions which stimulate, sustain, or
impede human potential.
