Paralegal Certificate<br />

The Paralegal certificate curriculum provides students with the<br />

practical skills, knowledge, and values necessary to become<br />

effective members of a legal team. outstanding faculty com prised<br />

of practicing attorneys guide students in their coursework and their<br />

professional goals. Students and alumni of this program are<br />

supported by an extensive on-campus law library, access to<br />

LexisNexis, and job assistance. our certifi cate program offers the<br />

most relevant and recent cutting-edge education available.<br />

Students will earn their Paralegal certificate upon successful<br />

completion of 40 quarter units of legal specialty courses with a GPA<br />

of 2.0 or better. The curriculum includes:<br />

14 legal specialty courses (40 upper-division units), of which eleven<br />

are required courses and three are elective.<br />

Applicants must meet all <strong>University</strong> requirements for admission in<br />

addition to those requirements listed here.<br />

Prior to applying to JFKU, applicants for the BA completion<br />

programs in the Liberal Arts program are expected to have<br />

completed a minimum of 45 quarter units (30 semester units),<br />

including at least one 4.5 quarter unit lower division, college-level<br />

English Composition course which will count towards the student’s<br />

lower division general education requirements. Individuals with<br />

fewer than the minimum required units are encouraged to enroll<br />

at a local junior college; take CLEP, AP, or DANTES examinations;<br />

or enroll at JFKU as non-degree student in order to achieve the 45<br />

quarter-unit minimum.<br />
