Counseling Psychology [iPC] Courses<br />
iPC 5000 integral Psychology orientation 0<br />
This course introduces new students to the Integral Psychotherapy<br />
master’s degree program. This is a required no-cost, no-credit course<br />
that includes information for successful completion of the program.<br />
iPC 5161 integral Theory a 3<br />
This course begins with an introduction of the five elements of Ken<br />
Wilber’s integral theory, including quadrants, levels, lines, states, and<br />
types and examines their relevance as a framework for today’s world.<br />
Topics include models of consciousness, premodern, modern, and<br />
postmodern perspectives, the relationship of Self/self, and the<br />
potential of integral psychology to deepen our understanding of and<br />
help bring about personal psycho-spiritual development as well as<br />
social/global change.<br />
iPC 5162 integral Theory B 3<br />
Building on the foundation laid down in IPC 5161, this course<br />
continues the inquiry into the nuances of integral theory. In<br />
particular, we will delve more deeply into Ken Wilber’s AQAL<br />
theory—studying the relationship between the domains of<br />
subjectivity, intersubjectivity, and objectivity. In addition, we will<br />
explore how these three domains of reality interface at each level of<br />
being in the world. Students will study the integral methodo logical<br />
pluralism (IMP) of Wilber’s more advanced writings. Prerequisite:<br />
IPC 5161.<br />
iPC 5171 developmental Psychology 3<br />
Explores how the development of the self is conceptualized and<br />
perceived within a variety of perspectives including Piaget, Kegan,<br />
object-relations theory, and self-psychology. These theories will be<br />
expressed within an integral development model.<br />
iPC 5172 Social and Cultural Psychology 3<br />
Examines existing research on the way human beings influence and<br />
affect each other’s behavior in group settings, and explores integral<br />
perspectives of social change.<br />
iPC 5175 Somatic Psychology 2<br />
This course explores the basic concepts in the field of somatic<br />
psychology. Through breath, movement, and the study of somatic<br />
principles, students examine the body/mind connection and the<br />
importance of embodied life experiences.<br />
iPC 5177 enneagram assessment 3<br />
The Enneagram will be presented as a model for understanding<br />
defense strategies against experiencing and expressing one’s essential<br />
self. The course will focus on developmental perspec tives of the<br />
shadow and the Holy Ideas of each of the 9 enneatypes, as well as<br />
intersubjective dynamics.<br />
iPC 5179 Transpersonal Psychology 2<br />
This course explores the basic theorists in transpersonal psychol ogy<br />
including the work of Carl Jung, roberto Assagioli, Stan Grof, and<br />
A.H. Almaas among others. Course also includes inquiry into states<br />
of consciousness including meditation, dreams, and peak<br />
experiences.<br />

This course will present the requirements and expectations for key<br />
professional courses in the second and third years of the program.<br />
This course will prepare students for IPP 5051–52 Integral research<br />
A–B, externship, and the final integrative project or thesis. Students<br />
will begin to explore how to connect and extend their education and<br />
coursework into areas of profes sional application.<br />
iPP 5007 fundamentals of Psychology 3<br />
This course explores the major principles of psychoanalytic,<br />
behavioral and humanistic/existential perspectives within an integral<br />
context and shows the importance of these principles for<br />
psycho-spiritual development. Pre- or co-requisite: COr 3145.<br />
iPP 5010 developmental Psychology 3<br />

emotional dynamics 3<br />
This course is an introduction to some basic principles and practices<br />
of effective communication. Students explore the use of<br />
communication in day-to-day life, relationships, counseling,<br />
teaching, employment settings, and in other contexts for working<br />
with people. Topics include presence, centering, listening skills, and<br />
discriminating between content and process.<br />
iPP 5013 effective Communication B:<br />
intersubjectivity 3<br />
This course continues to practice skills and principles of effective<br />
communication: topics include emotional dynamics, conflict<br />
management, and the importance of communication in social and<br />
global issues. Pre- requisite: IPP 5012.<br />
