CnS 5410 Teaching Practicum a 2<br />
Students learn to develop teaching outlines and lesson plans for adult<br />
education. Course includes class presentations, assessments of<br />
personal teaching style and discussion of philosophical principles of<br />
holistic education.<br />
CnS 5411 Teaching Practicum B 2<br />
Using the skills acquired in CnS 5410, students plan, develop, and<br />
present workshops on topics of their choice. Prerequisite: CnS 5410.<br />
CnS 5415 Curriculum development 2<br />
Students will learn how to prepare an academic syllabus and weekly<br />
lesson plans for college courses. Topics include holistic teaching<br />
philosophy, course objectives and description, reading and research<br />
materials, assignments, student evaluations, and the balance between<br />
cognitive and experiential learning.<br />
CnS 5453 integral Coaching 2<br />
This is a practical, hands-on class to define and provide coaching<br />
skills for managers, consultants, and those in private practice. The<br />
course will emphasize and apply an integral approach to coaching<br />
based on the work of Ken Wilber. In addition, students will practice<br />
basic coaching skills offered by Laura Whitworth’s co-active<br />
approach. The emphasis is on practical applications of coaching skills<br />
in real-life professional situations. Offered credit/no credit only.<br />
CnS 5455 exploring Professional identity a 2<br />
Encourages students to begin an inquiry into their future career goals<br />
and application of principles learned in their degree program.<br />
CnS 5460 exploring Professional identity B 1<br />
Students integrate career goals and degree principles by attending a<br />
particular internship site. Prerequisite: CnS 5455.<br />
CnS 5465 Starting Your own <strong>Business</strong> 2<br />
For those considering opening a practice as a consultant, coach,<br />
therapist, bodyworker, or developing a start-up company, this class<br />
will examine the basics needed to turn a great idea into a business<br />
reality. Among the topics covered are analyzing life values and<br />
priorities, determining business goals and strategies, launching and<br />
managing the business, and dealing with finances and marketing.<br />
CnS 5515 Six domains of Consciousness: Personal<br />
Synthesis 1<br />
Second year students prepare to synthesize their learning of six<br />
domains of consciousness (the scientific, psychological,<br />
transpersonal, ecological/philosophical, and spiritual) into a holistic<br />
paradigm of consciousness. Students meld what they have learned<br />
about dimensions of consciousness into their own understanding to<br />
make personal meaning of the origins, nature, limitations and<br />
potentials of consciousness. Prerequisites: CnS 5033 and CnS 5025.<br />
CnS 5600 Planning a Thesis 1<br />
In this course, students will explore their thesis topics and clarify the<br />
major questions to be addressed.<br />
CnS 5602 Thesis 1-3<br />
Students write their master’s thesis under the supervision of selected<br />
faculty members. Prerequisite: CnS 5600.<br />
CnS 5610 Ma integrative Project 2<br />
In this class, students prepare their final integrative paper and<br />
presentation. This includes a personal statement, psychological<br />
and spiritual theory, and application of coursework within a<br />
professional and social context. Prerequisite: CnS 5127.<br />
CnS 5615 Publishing and Media 2<br />
This course focuses on preparing, packaging and disseminating<br />
information to both general and specific audiences. Topics include:<br />
writing book proposals and query letters; assessing markets and<br />
dealing effectively with contracts, agents, editors and publishers;<br />
presentation skills; self-promotion through the media, personal<br />
and public relations, and interviews.<br />
CnS 5620 issues in Consciousness Studies 1–3<br />
Issues will vary according to student interests. May be repeated for<br />
credit with a change of topic.<br />
CnS 5670 advanced Writing and Publishing 2<br />
This course is intended for students who wish to publish their<br />
research professionally. Students must bring to the course a research<br />
paper from a previous class with an A or A+ grade. The focus of the<br />
class will be to refine and edit the research paper into a high-quality<br />
article that will be submitted for publication to a professional journal.<br />

In-depth research and analysis of specific topics in philosophy and<br />
consciousness. Focus varies with instructor and student interest.<br />

Consciousness Studies 1–3<br />

In this course, students will complete a field project related to dream<br />
studies. The specific nature of the project will vary based on student’s<br />
interests and available mentors and often includes attendance at a<br />
dream conference; however, all work must be approved prior to its<br />

edJ 3105 The essay 3<br />
Writing short papers on personal, general, and academic subjects,<br />
progressing from the simplest, most personal approach through<br />
increasing stages of complexity. Emphasizes discovering and<br />
developing each student’s voice while building specific writing skills<br />
including unity, organization, development, and clarity of thought.<br />
Fulfills upper-division general-education writing requirement. May<br />
be applied toward the lower-division general-education<br />
communication breadth requirement if the upper-division writing<br />
competency exam was passed.<br />
