Spending the summer working for the<br />
42nd President <strong>of</strong> the United St<strong>at</strong>es was a<br />
dream come true for Will Whiting.<br />
A 2005 summa cum laude gradu<strong>at</strong>e <strong>of</strong><br />
the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monticello</strong>,<br />
Whiting was one <strong>of</strong> 30 interns from an<br />
applicant pool <strong>of</strong> 600 chosen to work in<br />
former President Bill Clinton’s New York<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice from June through August.<br />
After a long and exhausting interview<br />
process, Whiting was notified in April th<strong>at</strong><br />
he had been selected to work for the former<br />
President. Whiting spent the summer living<br />
in a studio apartment in lower Manh<strong>at</strong>tan<br />
and commuting 45 minutes to Clinton’s<br />
Harlem <strong>of</strong>fice in upper Manh<strong>at</strong>tan.<br />
Whiting gradu<strong>at</strong>ed from UAM<br />
with a double major in speech<br />
communic<strong>at</strong>ions and journalism<br />
and was the 2005 Pi Kappa<br />
Delta All-American in deb<strong>at</strong>e<br />
and forensics. He put his background<br />
to work in the communic<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice for the Alliance<br />
for a Healthier Gener<strong>at</strong>ion, a new<br />
initi<strong>at</strong>ive launched by the William<br />
J. Clinton Found<strong>at</strong>ion and<br />
the American Heart Associ<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
He also provided communic<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
assistance for other areas<br />
supported by the Clinton Found<strong>at</strong>ion,<br />
including the Clinton<br />
HIV-AIDS Initi<strong>at</strong>ive, the newly<br />
cre<strong>at</strong>ed Clinton Clim<strong>at</strong>e Initi<strong>at</strong>ive,<br />
and the Clinton Global<br />
Initi<strong>at</strong>ive.<br />

more than I expected,” said<br />
Whiting. “I gained valuable<br />
experience th<strong>at</strong> will help me<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionally. I got a chance to<br />
live in and experience one <strong>of</strong> the<br />
gre<strong>at</strong>est cities in the world, I met
