UAM MAGAZINE 26 Class News Jane Cash Hankins (BSE/Education ’57) Mrs. Hankins lives in Pine Bluff. She would love to hear from some of her former classmates and sorority sisters. Ginger Johnson (BSE/Math ’72) Mrs. Johnson lives in Searcy, where she is the principal of the Arkansas Virtual School which serves students K-8 from more than 60 districts. Lt. Col. Robert K. Doss (BS/Agriculture ’73) Lt. Col. Doss lives in Jackson, TN. He retired on December 30 from the Jackson-Madison County School System where he was the AFJROTC/TN-93 Senior Aerospace Science Instructor. His retirement completed 35 years in the United States Air Force uniform. He currently has no plans, but will be looking for a position where he can use his Personal Management master’s degree. Melody Peacock Barnett (BA/History & Social Studies ’89) Mrs. Barnett lives in Dermott. She and was recently honored (along with Tom and Dick Smothers) as one of the “ 00 Distinguished Graduates in 00 Years” at her high school’s centennial celebration in Redondo Beach, CA. In June, she completed two years as President of the UALR Bowen School of Law Alumni Association. She currently serves as chair of two Arkansas Bar Association Sections: the Government Practice Section and the Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare Section. She is employed by the Arkansas Board of Corrections as an attorney in the Compliance Division. Mrs. Barnett does volunteer work for Voices for Children Left Behind, a group that assists children of prisoners and their caregivers. Sandi Perraudin-Veazey (BS/Business Administration ’91) Ms. Perraudin- Veazey has been living in the Houston, TX, area since the fall of 2005. She was living in New Orleans when hurricane Katrina hit and unfortunately lost everything. Alicia Thompson (BA/Elementary Education ’96) Since leaving UAM, Ms. Thompson has earned her high school math certification. She taught math as well as other subjects at her alma mater, Alread High School, until it closed in 2006. She now lives in Clinton with her threeyear-old son and is a geometry teacher at Clinton High School. Michelle Pounds (BS/Psychology ’99) Ms. Pounds and her husband have recently moved to Fordyce. Charlotte A. Phillips (BS/Computer Information Systems ’04) Mrs. Phillips is currently working towards a master’s degree in Business and Technology Management and plans to enroll in the iTeachTexas alternative certification program. She is an Account Manager with Drive Financial Services in Dallas, TX. Rishers Host Houston Area Alumni Reception Chris Simpson (BS/Computer Information Systems ’05) Before graduation, Mr. Simpson worked at the McGehee Bank as the Network Administrator. After graduation, he went full time with the Bank. He recently accepted a job in Pine Bluff with Entergy’s Market Systems Support group. Karl Vesecky (BS/Computer Information Systems ’05) Mr. Vesecky is currently living and working in Little Rock where he is employed by Dillard’s Corporate Office as a Java programmer. He works with a team of five other programmers on Dillard’s Intranet and Extranet systems.
