practice field for use by the football, baseball and softball
teams as well as the marching band, and coaches offices and
meeting rooms for football.
UAM officials will announce the formation of a steering
committee comprised of former Boll Weevil and Cotton Blossom
athletes and supporters later in the spring. The committee
will be charged with directing the fund-raising efforts for
the Campaign for Athletics.

former athletes as well as others
who love the Boll Weevils and
Cotton Blossoms to get involved in
this campaign,” said UAM Chancellor
Jack Lassiter. “I have always
been a firm believer that intercollegiate
athletics plays an important
role in the life and the spirit
of a university. The Gulf South
Conference is without doubt
the toughest, most competitive
conference at the Division II level
and we need these additions and
renovations to help our coaches
remain competitive.”
In addition to the new facility,
UAM will renovate the home side
of Convoy Leslie-Cotton Boll Stadium
to include chairback seating
and a renovated and expanded
