Cross-Flow Cylinder Heads<br />

American made MSX cross-flow cylinder head from Moss<br />

Motors. Computer controlled design and production for<br />

enhanced gas flow and heat dissipation characteristics<br />

essential to high performance engines. Heads are supplied<br />

fully machined, with valve guides installed. Stock MGB valves,<br />

valve springs and retainers are included and installed. Heads<br />

may be used with stock exhaust systems, but for maximum<br />

performance, we suggest any of our free-flow exhaust systems<br />

(see table of contents).<br />

Several SU and Weber <strong>car</strong>buretor options are available, and<br />

are sold separately. We recommend 1-3/4" SUs for street use,<br />

although stock 1-1/2" SUs may be used for a slightly lesser<br />

increase in power. Dual twin throat DCOE Webers will provide<br />

maximum power and response, but may not be suitable for<br />

street use, especially in conjunction with other performance<br />

modifications. With a full array of engine modifications, these<br />

heads are an important part of building an MGB engine capable<br />

of producing over 150 horsepower!<br />

Stellite Exhaust Valves<br />

Steel faced with Stellite (a strong, hard-wearing, highly burnresistant<br />

alloy). Valves are a main component of a “lead-free”<br />

head. Exhaust valve seats should be induction hardened, or<br />

allows higher compression ratios, and have a greater than 35% increase in<br />

cylinder heads. Ports and combustion chambers are polished<br />

and balanced, and special “figure eight” stainless steel valve<br />
