Sheehan had 14, and junior guard Mallory Heydorn 10. Senior guard Sarah Bull had a game<br />
high six steals, and senior guard Crystal Dye a game high nine rebounds.<br />
<strong>Whitewater</strong> made more free throws (16-25) than IWU attempted (13-14). IWU put up 28 three's,<br />
and made six (21%) in an attempt to but the deficit,<br />
Illinois Wesleyan ended its season 26-3.<br />
The University of Wisconsin-<strong>Whitewater</strong> defeated Simpson College 96-69 Friday night in a<br />
National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III sectional semifinal played in the Kachel Gym<br />
in Williams Center in <strong>Whitewater</strong>, Wisconsin. <strong>UW</strong>-W, 27-3, will face defending Division III<br />
champion DePauw University, 28-3, Saturday at 7:00 for the right to advance to the final four at<br />
Hope College in Holland, Michigan Friday-Saturday, March 21-22.<br />
<strong>Whitewater</strong> led the entire game, including a 36-32 margin at halftime.<br />
Simpson cut the lead to two, 38-36 on a Katelyn Whiton layup at 17:46. <strong>UW</strong>-W steadily built the<br />
lead, including a 11-0 spurt late in the second half, to put the game out of reach.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-W had a season high six players score in double figures. Senior guard Trisha Thill tied her<br />
career high with 18 points, including 4-5 from beyond the arc. Sophomore guard Kelsey<br />
Hendrickson, junior center Tiffany Morton, sophomore guard Heidi Sonntag, and sophomore<br />
center Dana Thompson all scored 11 points. Senior center Lindsey Buechner contributed 10<br />
points, and Morton grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Thill's game included game highs in<br />
assists, 7, and steals, 5.<br />
Simpson's Whiton, a senior forward, led both teams with 29 points, connecting on 13-23 shots<br />
from the field. Whiton and junor forward Denisha Fields led Simpson with seven rebounds, and<br />
Fields added three steals.<br />
<strong>Whitewater</strong>'s defense came up with 15 steals, forced 22 turnovers and limited Simpson to 43%<br />
shooting. <strong>UW</strong>-W shot 55% from the floor, and won the battle on the boards, 42-32.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-W will be making its third appearance in the quarterfinals of a national tournament. <strong>UW</strong>-W<br />
got to the final eight in the NCAA III tournament in 1986, and to the quarterfinals of the<br />
Association for Intercollegiate <strong>Athletics</strong> for Women Division III tourney in 1981 and 1982.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> Advances to Final Four with Win Over DePauw<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> is going to the big dance. The Warhawks defeated defending National Collegiate<br />
Athletic Association Division III champion DePauw University 83-80 Saturday night in Kachel<br />
Gym of Williams Center in <strong>Whitewater</strong>, Wisconsin in a NCAA III championship tournament<br />
quarterfinal game. <strong>UW</strong>-W, 28-3, will advance to the final four at Hope College in Holland,<br />
Michigan. The final four will be played Friday-Saturday, March 21-22, with <strong>UW</strong>-W meeting<br />
Howard Payne University (TX), 31-0 at 6:30 p.m CST. Messiah College (PA), 29-2, will meet<br />
Oglethorpe College, 27-5 in the other semifinal at 4:30 p.m CST. Friday's winners will meet for<br />
the NCAA III championship Saturday night at 5 p.m CST, preceded by a third place game at 2:30<br />
p.m CST.<br />
Tickets for the final four will go on sale in the <strong>UW</strong>-W ticket office Monday. The ticket office will<br />
sell tournament tickets from 9:30 to 4:00 Monday and Tuesday, and from 9:30 to 3:00<br />
