Morton equaled her career high with 22 points, and with 15 rebounds. Senior center Lindsey<br />

Buechner and sophomore guard Heidi Sonntag added 16 apiece, and sophomore guard Kelsey<br />

Hendrickson joined Schmidt in scoring ten points. Sonntag also recorded game highs in assists,<br />

5, and steals, 4.<br />

Senior guards Lindsey Geissler with 14 points and Joanna Bird with 11 led Stout.<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong> and Stout combined for 45 turnovers (22 <strong>UW</strong>-W), and 56 fouls that led to 80 free<br />

throw attempts.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-W's victory broke a four game win streak for Stout, now 14-7 overall and 8-4 in the WIAC.<br />

The Warhawks also won the meeting earlier this year, January 19 in <strong>Whitewater</strong>, 93-72.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-W, on a six game winning streak, will host <strong>UW</strong>-Platteville Wednesday at 7:00 in Kachel Gym<br />

of Williams Center.<br />

Warhawks Take Control of First Place WIAC<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong>, ranked third in the D3hoops.com poll, is all alone in first place after a 94-64 rout<br />

of <strong>UW</strong>-Platteville Wednesday night in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at<br />

Kachel Gym. The Warhawks (20-1 overall, 12-1 conference) move past <strong>UW</strong>-Eau Claire, which<br />

lost to <strong>UW</strong>-Stevens Point 57-43.<br />

The Pioneers kept the game close early on, as they trailed by only six, 14-8, at the 13:04 mark in<br />

the first half. But the Warhawks took off on a 15-0 run to push the lead to 29-8 at 7:50 on a threepoint<br />

basket by sophomore Nicole Bundy.<br />

At halftime <strong>UW</strong>-W led 41-18. <strong>UW</strong>-P shot only 22.2% (6-27) from the field and committed fourteen<br />

turnovers. <strong>Whitewater</strong> had only six turnovers and shot 40% (16-40) from the field.<br />

In the second half the <strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> lead dipped below twenty points only once at 17:19, when<br />

they led 45-26. The final margin, 94-64, was the largest of the game.<br />

Sophomore guard Kelsey Hendrickson had a game-high twenty-four points to lead four<br />

Warhawks in double figures. Sophomore center Tiffany Morton scored sixteen, junior forward<br />

Meghan Schmidt added fifteen, and sophomore guard Heidi Sonntag contributed eleven.<br />

Sonntag led <strong>UW</strong>-W with four assists and had a game-high four steals.<br />

Junior guard Lisa Wubben scored twenty-points and dished out eight assists to lead the<br />

Pioneers. Freshman guard Angie Vamstad and junior forward Lisa Grantman added eleven<br />

points apiece.<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong>'s scoring margin showed up at the line and behind the arc. The Warhawks made 21-<br />

29 free throws (P 12-19) and 9-20 three-pointers (P 4-12).<br />

With the loss, <strong>UW</strong>-Platteville falls to 10-12 overall and 4-9 in the WIAC.<br />

The Warhawks will travel to <strong>UW</strong>-Stevens Point (18-4, 9-4) Saturday.<br />

#3 Warhawks Fall to Pointers<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> came in Saturday's game ranked third in the D3hoops.com poll and alone in first<br />

place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. A 64-62 loss at <strong>UW</strong>-Stevens Point left<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong> sharing the league lead and wondering what the loss to their number one ranking in<br />

the NCAA III regional poll, the poll that determines bids and hosts when the WIAC is finished with<br />

its postseason tournament.<br />

Stevens Point controlled the first half, with <strong>Whitewater</strong>'s lone lead 18-17 on two free throws by<br />
