sophomore center Dana Thompson added ten points. Whitewater blocked a season-high eight
shots, including two each by Hendrickson, Buechner and Meghan Schmidt.
Bird led UW-Stout with 13 points, eleven coming in the first half. Lindsey Geissler and Julia
Hirssig added 11 and 10, respectively. Bird also led the Blue Devils with four assists, and Hirssig
tied for the team lead with six rebounds.
UW-W is 15-1 overall and 6-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-Stout is
10-6 overall and 4-3 in league play.
Whitewater will play at UW-Platteville Wednesday. The next home game for the Warhawks will be
Saturday, February 2 at 3:00, with UW-Eau Claire visiting Kachel Gym in Williams Center.
#3 Warhawks Up to 16-1 with 85-63 Win at Platteville
UW-Whitewater, ranked third in the D3hoops.com national poll, defeated UW-Platteville 85-63 at
Bo Ryan Court in Platteville Wednesday evening.
Platteville's last lead was 4-3 with 18:21 left in the first half. The Warhawks led 25-10 at 9:44 on
a three-point play by junior center Tiffany Morton, but Platteville scored the final six points of the
half to make it 37-31 Whitewater at the intermission.
The Pioneers scored the first two baskets of the second half to pull within 37-35. Whitewater
responded with a 17-3 burst, making it 54-38 at 12:52. The Warhawks added on from there to
build a thirty point margin twice, at 5:04 and with 3:47 remaining.
Morton and sophomore forward Nicole Bundy led the Warhawks with 16 points apiece, with
sophomore guard Kelsey Hendrickson adding 14. Morton scored fourteen of her points in the frist
half. Senior center Lindsey Buechner led the Warhawks with four assists. Junior guard Lisa
Wubben scored sixteen for the Pioneers, eleven coming in the second half. Vanessa Nemitz, a
sophomore guard, scored ten in the second half, thirteen overall.
Whitewater out-rebounded the Pioneers 42-30, and limited UW-P to 36% shooting from the field.
UW-Whitewater is 16-1 overall and 7-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Eleven of Whitewater's sixteen wins have been by twenty or more points. UW-Platteville, which
has lost three of its last four games, is 9-8 overall and 3-5 in league play.
UW-W will travel to UW-Superior Saturday for a 3:00 start. The next home game for the
Warhawks will be Saturday, February 2 when they host UW-Eau Claire in Kachel Gym of
Williams Center.
#3 Warhawks Go to 17-1 with Win at Superior
UW-W, the highest scoring team in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and number
three in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, cracked the 90 point barrier for
the seventh time this season with a 92-41 win over UW-Superior at Gates Gym in Superior,
Wisconsin Saturday afternoon.
The teams traded baskets to open the game, but UW-W left no doubts with a 19-2 run to go up
21-2 with 14:13 left in the first half. Whitewater bumped up the lead again, this time with a 23-2
run to make it 47-8 at 7:04. The Warhawks went in to the locker room leading 61-17.
Whitewater shot 58% from the floor in the game; UW-Superior hit 30% of their shots. The
Warhawks' defense also forced 30 Yellowjacket turnovers.
UW-W equaled its season high with five players in double figures; with sophomore forward Nicole
Bundy leading the way with 13. Sophomore center Dana Thompson scored 12, and senior center
