Outstanding shooting for the Warhawks led them to victory. <strong>UW</strong>-W shot 39-73 (53.4%) from the<br />

field and 19-22 (86.4%) from the free throw line. The Eagles shot the ball fairly well (26-57 for<br />

45.6%), but turned the ball over 26 times during the contest and were out-rebounded by <strong>UW</strong>-<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong> 42-23. <strong>UW</strong>-W committed only 16 turnovers in the fast-paced game.<br />

Junior center Tiffany Morton led the Warhawks in scoring with 22 points on 9-13 shooting.<br />

Morton also recorded eight rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. Sonntag shot 7-10 from the<br />

field and 3-4 from 3-point range and finished with 17 points for <strong>UW</strong>-W. Senior center Lindsey<br />

Buechner, sophomore Kelsey Hendrickson, and Thompson also finished in double figures for<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> with thirteen, twelve, and twelve points respectively.<br />

Edgewood Junior Megan Scheele led all scorers with 27 points and had a game-high 10<br />

rebounds. Kacy Sporle added 15 points and Janelle Gosh added 10 points for the Crusaders.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> resumes play on December 15, when they travel to Decorah, IA to take on Luther<br />

College for a 7:00 tipoff.<br />

Warhawks Defeat Luther College in Overtime<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong>, ranked sixth in both national Division III poll, improved their overall record to 9-0<br />

with an overtime 78-72 victory over Luther College, 2-5, in a non-conference game on Saturday<br />

night.<br />

The Norses’ battle with the Warhawks evenly throughout the first half with six lead changes in the<br />

first half with Luther’s largest lead of two points at 19-17 with a three pointer by Camille Stenhaug<br />

at 8:15 in the first half. <strong>Whitewater</strong>’s largest lead in the first lead in the first half was four point at<br />

6:50 with a jumper made by junior forward Megan Schmidt making it 25-21. <strong>Whitewater</strong> lead at<br />

half by two points 30-28.<br />

In the second half the Norses opened up on a 14-6 run to take the lead of 42-36 with 14:01<br />

remaining in the game. <strong>Whitewater</strong> would make its own run of 10-4 and tie it at 46-46 with 10:49<br />

left in the second half. The Warhawks’ built a lead of seven points at 4:54 with the score 60-53<br />

by a three pointer by sophomore guard Kelsey Hendrickson. <strong>Whitewater</strong> would not trail the<br />

remainder of the second half, but Luther went on to tie the game with a 12-5 run to end the<br />

regulation and force overtime.<br />

In overtime tied 71-71, at 2:10 <strong>Whitewater</strong> grabs the lead by a jumper from Hendrickson and<br />

would never to relinquish.<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong> was led by Kelsey Hendrickson (so, Monroe) with 17 points and six steals. Two other<br />

players were in double figures: Lindsay Buechner (sr, Middleton) had 12 points and grabbed 11<br />

rebounds and Tiffany Morton (jr, Beloit) had 11 points and 12 rebounds.<br />

Luther College had three players that were in double figures led by Stenhaug with 19 points,<br />

Amanda Dahlseng had 12 points and Jackie Miller with 11 points.<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong>'s next home game is on Tuesday, December 18 against Coe College in the Williams<br />

Center at 5:00 pm.<br />

Warhawks Make it Ten in a Row<br />

Fifth-ranked <strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> cruised to an 88-61 win over Coe College Tuesday evening in<br />

Kachel Gym in Williams Center. <strong>UW</strong>-W, now 10-0, gave the Kohawks, 8-1, their first loss of the<br />

season.<br />
