Warhawks Still Unbeaten with Win Against Superior<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> moves their record up to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in conference to keep their unbeaten<br />

season alive with a 106-59 victory over <strong>UW</strong>-Superior at Kachel Gym in the Williams Center<br />

Saturday afternoon.<br />

The Warhawks scored the first points of the game on a Kelsey Hendrickson layup, but Superior<br />

answered right back with a bucket of their own by Amanda Rounsville. <strong>UW</strong>-W guard, Trisha Thill<br />

then knocked down a three point basket to give <strong>Whitewater</strong> the lead for good.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-W's first half was fueled by a 10 point scoring run to put the score at 20-6. Later in the first<br />

half, <strong>UW</strong>-W had another big scoring run of 14 points to put the score at 40-8 with 5:32 to go in the<br />

first half. The half ended with the Warhawks up, 58-16.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-Superior put together a five point scoring run to open the first half, but <strong>Whitewater</strong> fired right<br />

back with eight straight points of their own. <strong>Whitewater</strong> and Superior battled to a fairly even<br />

second half, but <strong>Whitewater</strong> outscored Superior by five in the second half giving them a<br />

season high of 106 points of the night.<br />

<strong>Whitewater</strong>'s shooting helped propel them to a victory as they shot 36-65 (55.4%) from the field<br />

and Superior only shot 18-59 (30.5%). <strong>Whitewater</strong> also forced 34 turnovers and only turned the<br />

ball over 17 times themselves.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-W was led in scoring by Kelsey Hendrickson, who was 9-12 from the field and finished with<br />

22 total points. Hendrickson also added five steals, three rebounds, and two assists. Rachel<br />

Woolever also added 16 points making four of her six three point attempts. Megan Schmidt<br />

scored 13 points for the Warhawks as well.<br />

Tiffany Morton put in 11 points and a team high seven rebounds. Superior was led in scoring by<br />

Carissa Nord, who finished with 10 points. Lisa Thielen and Gigi Hudson added nine points a<br />

piece. Hudson also pulled down game high 12 rebounds.<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> resumes play on December 11, when they travel to Madison to take on<br />

Edgewood College for a 7:00 tipoff.<br />

Warhawks Defeat Edgewood, Break Century Mark in Back-to-Back Games<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong>, ranked sixth in both national Division III poll, improved their overall record to 8-0<br />

with a 104-62 victory over Edgewood College, 4-4, in a non-conference game at the Todd Wehr<br />

Edgedome Wednesday night. The Warhawks equals the third highest score in school history,<br />

tying a total accomplished December 10, 1991 against Wisconsin Lutheran College. Adding to<br />

the accomplishment, <strong>UW</strong>-W has scored 100 or more points in a game just seven times in<br />

school history, never even twice in one season --- and this team hit the mark in back-toback<br />

games, scoring 106 (second best in school history) in a win over <strong>UW</strong>-Superior<br />

Saturday.<br />

The Eagles stayed even with the Warhawks until the 14:35 mark at 10-10. Sophomore Dana<br />

Thompson made a layup that gave <strong>UW</strong>-W the lead for good, but Edgewood kept the game close<br />

for a while. The Warhawks never had a lead of more than 10 points until sophomore Heidi<br />

Sonntag hit a 3-pointer with 5:05 left in the first half to give <strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> a 35-22 lead.<br />

The Eagles then scored back-back baskets to pull back to within 9 points at the 4:24 mark, but<br />

<strong>UW</strong>-W ended the half on 19-0 scoring run for 54-26 halftime lead that sealed the deal. The<br />

Warhawks outscored Edgewood 50-36 in the second half to allow them to cruise to victory and hit<br />

the century mark for the second straight contest.<br />
