Warhawks Up Mark to 3-0 with Win Over Cornell<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> upped its record to 3-0 with an 85-48 win over Cornell College (IA) Sunday<br />
afternoon in the Kachel Gym in Williams Center in <strong>Whitewater</strong>, Wisconsin.<br />
<strong>Whitewater</strong> led 41-22 at the half and never led by less than twenty points in the second half <strong>UW</strong>-<br />
W's largest lead of the game, 39, came at 85-46 with 1:55 left in the game.<br />
Senior center Lindsey Buechner, with 17 points, led four Warhawks in double figures. Tiffany<br />
Morton, a junior post player, added 12, Dana Thompson, a sophomore post player, contributed<br />
11, and senior guard Trisha Thill scored 10.<br />
Forward Alicia West led Cornell with 13 points, with guard Charlotte Milas scoring 11.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-W outrebounded Cornell 50-36, led by Morton's game-high ten rebounds. The Warhawks<br />
also shot 50% from the field in the game while limiting CC to 30%. <strong>Whitewater</strong>'s defense also<br />
contributed five blocked shots, four by Morton. <strong>Whitewater</strong>'s Meghan Schmidt, a junior forward,<br />
led both teams with five assists. Cornell is 0-2 this season.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong>, ranked eighteenth in the pre-season poll of NCAA III teams, will play at the<br />
University of Chicago Wednesday. The Warhawks will open Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic<br />
Conference play Saturday, December 1 at 5:00, hosting <strong>UW</strong>-Stevens Point at 3:00 Saturday,<br />
December 1 in Kachel Gym.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> Defeats University of Chicago<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> upped its record to 4-0 with a 62-53 victory over the University of Chicago, at<br />
Chicago's Ratner <strong>Athletics</strong> Center Wednesday night.<br />
The Warhawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead early in the game, but Chicago evened the score as the<br />
teams battled early in the game. With 5:53 left in the first half, <strong>Whitewater</strong> took the lead for good<br />
on a layup by Dana Thompson, eventually building a 13 point lead with 1:24 left in the first half on<br />
another Thompson layup.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> maintained its lead the entire half, building a 54-42 lead with 5:14 left in the game<br />
on a Trisha Thill three point basket. Chicago then went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 54-51 with<br />
2:23 remaining in the game. <strong>Whitewater</strong> answered by outscoring Chicago 8-2 the rest of the way.<br />
All eight of <strong>Whitewater</strong>'s points came on free throws.<br />
Whitwater was lead in scoring by Kelsey Hendrickson's game high 15 points. Meghan Schmidt<br />
chipped in 12 points as well. Tiffany Morton lead the Warhawks with 8 rebounds, and Thill dished<br />
out 5 assists to lead both teams. Chicago's Molly Hackney had 12 points and Nicaya Rapier had<br />
8 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.<br />
<strong>Whitewater</strong> was 12-19 from the free throw line and Chicago was only 3-3 from the free throw line.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-Whitwater is ranked tenth or fifteenth in the two national Division III polls, and the Univestiy of<br />
Chicago, now 4-1, is ranked eighteenth in both.<br />
<strong>UW</strong>-<strong>Whitewater</strong> will open the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conferenct season at 3:00<br />
hosting <strong>UW</strong>-Stevens Point in Kachel Gym in the Williams Center. <strong>UW</strong>-Stevens Point is ranked<br />
sixteenth and twentith in both polls respectively.<br />
Warhawks Remain Perfect with Win Over Pointers<br />
The Warhawk women's basketball team, ranked tenth and fifteenth in the two national Division III<br />
polls, opened the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season with a 75-71 win over<br />
previously unbeaten, and eighteenth ranked, <strong>UW</strong>-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon in Williams<br />
Center in <strong>Whitewater</strong>, Wisconsin.<br />
